Features Talks on Worldwide Church
The Wesleyan Service Guild
of the First Methodist Church
held its monthly meeting on
Tuesday night, March 3rd. The
meeting was called to order by
President Carolyn Osborne
welcoming 18 members and one
visitor. Reports from different
officers were made. Treasurer
reported that balance on hand

nator gave reports also. The
President announced that a

Business meeting was short,
there being no old business to
be brought before the group.
New business consisted of a mo
tion being made by Mrs. Stella
Sumner and seconded by Mrs.
Jeanne Adams that the Guild
serve MYF during the early
part of May—the date being
set by the MYF. This motion
was passed unanimously. It was
suggested that Mrs. Rainwater
of Monroe be given considera
tion for the nomination by the
District for District Secretary.
Her name is to be presented by
our Guild.
The program was presented
by Mrs. Elizabeth Waggoner,
devotional, and Mrs. Rebecca
Alexander, Mrs. Charlotte
Johnson, and Mrs. LaVerne Bo
hanan giving talks on World
wide Church.
A social hour with refresh
ments served by Hostess, Mrs.
Jeanne Adams followed.

Marcus Hunt Coody is Announced
Mr. and Mrs. Bernys Shaw

daughter, Nadia Ann Shaw, to
Marcus Hunt Coody, son of Mr.
and Mrs. James Corley Coody,
on Sunday, September 7th, in
Elberton, at the home of Mr.

Mrs. Coody, a graduate of
the ’958 Class of Newton Coun
ty High School where she was a
Majorette in the Newton High
Pand, co-captain of the Newton
High Basketball Team, Tri-Hi-
Y and Beta Club members and
co-editor of the Scribbler, at

gia this year. She is a member
of Zeta Tau Alpha Sorority.

member of the Varsity Football

ten o’clock March 3, at the home
of Mrs. E. G. Lassiter.
The meeting was called to

roll call with one visitor pres
ent.
The lesson was given by Mrs.
Helen Exley the subject being
“The Call To Holiness”. Mrs.
Exley closed the meeting.

day tour of duty in Tripoli from

mers will leave Friday for
Moultrie, where Mr. Summers
will play in the Invitational
Golf Tournament, prior to a
weekend visit in Jacksonville
with their uncle and aunt, Mr.
and Mrs. Ivy Smith. Mrs. Moody
Summer, Sr., who has enjoyed
a week’s visit with the Ivy
Smiths, in Jacksonville and
