Installation services for the I
officers of Covington Chapter
No. 337, Order of the Eastern
Star for 1959-60, were held
Wednesday evening, April 22,
at the Masonic Hall.
The Chapter room was beau
tifully decorated in blue and
white, the colors of the incom
ing Worthy Matron, Mrs. Ger
trude Niblett. Two large floor
baskets held arrangements of
magnolia leaves and blossoms
flanked on either side by tall
seven branched candelabrae'
holding burning blue tapers, i
White satin streamers tied at
intervals with white carnations,
the flower of the Worthy Ma
tron, entwined the candelabrae.

stallation services a short pro
gram was given by the Star
Point officers assisted by the

accompanied by Mrs. Reba
Whelchel sang the incoming
Matron’s song “My Task” and
the incoming Patron’s song for
the year. “An Evening Prayer”.
Mrs. Niblett gave a short wel
come after which she presented
the Sweetheart and Mascot for
the new year, Chris Niblett and
Eddie Niblett; the pages Miss
Delores Tolbert and Miss Har
riette Johnson and ushers Mrs.
Leta Laseter and Mrs. Mary
Johnson.

tron were then presented be
hind the altar where Mrs. Gail
Lemke presented the jewels to
Mrs. Lemke with her son Carl
pinning her past Matron's pin
on her. Mrs. Dorothy Kitchens
presented the past Patron’s pen
to Mr. Kitchens with their son
Mike pinning it on. Mrs. Char
lotte Johnson, chaplain, then
presented them with their gifts
from the 1958-59 officers.

in new slates of officers for the
Sophomore, Junior and Senior
classes. The new officers will
assume their positions next fall.

At the conclusion of the pro
gram the group was invited in
to the dining room where deli
cious refreshments were served
from a beautifully appointed
table overlaid with a white linen
j cloth. Decorations for the serv
ing table were two arrange
ments of white carnations in
silver containers interspersed on
either side and in the center
with silver candelabrae holding
blue tapers. Completing the
decorations were large silver
trays containing dainty open
faced sandwiches, cheese straws
and individual white embossed
cake squares daintily decorated
in blue, green and white.
The punch table, also over
laid with white linen held the
large cutglass punch bowl from
which Mrs. Louise Kitchens and
Mrs. Cecile Dial served punch.
Others on the refreshment com
mittee were Mrs. Claire Ellis,
chairman; Mrs. Jeanette John
son, Mrs. Rebecca Alexander,
Mrs. Joyce Johnson and Mrs.
Addie Mae King. Serving on
the decoration committee were
Mrs. Ria Allen, chairman; Mrs.
Charlotte Johnson and Mrs.
