their mother, Mrs. Nettie Wil
liams, last week-end.

recent visitors of relatives in
Gastonia, North Carolina.

Hairston of Atlanta, Georgia
on April 21. He was the hus
band of the Gattis’ daughter,
the former Miss Bertha Gattis.
Captain Charles Barnett who
is a Chaplain at Shaw Air Force
Base near Sumter, South Caro
lina was the houseguest of the
Rev. and Mrs. Irving G. Ru
dolph last week. Captain Bar
nett and the Rev. Rudolph were
classmates at Union Seminary
in Richmond, Virginia as they
prepared for the ministry.
Mrs. Otis Slaton has been
seriously ill at the St. Joseph’s
Infirmary in Atlanta, Georgia
following surgery on Monday,
April 20. Many friends wish for
her an early recovery.
Mrs. L. L. Patterson who
makes her home in Porterdale
with Mr. and Mrs. J. T. Laster,
during the winter months has
moved for the summer to the
home of another daughter, Mrs.
J. W. Loyd, in Covington.
Mrs. T. R. Christian of At
lanta was the houseguest of her
son, Mr. Travis Christian, and
Mrs. Christian last week.
Friends of Mr. Willie Jef
fries regret that he had to be
hospitalized again on Tuesday
evening, April 21, at Newton
Hospital. He is being wished an
early recovery from illness.
Mrs. Willie E. (Bud) Berry
returned bv plane on Thurs
day, April 23, from a six weeks
visit with her daughter, Mrs.
JoAnn Thompson. and Lt.
Thompson and their infant
daughter at Spokane, Washing
ton.
Mrs. Nettie Williams spent
Mondav through Wednesdav in
Atlanta with her daughter, Mrs.
J. T. Catoe. who underwent eye
surgery. Mrs. Catoe and chil
dren returned home with her
until the weekend.
Friends of Mr. Brice Thomn
son who made his home at the
Welaunee Hotel were grieved
at his sudden death on Monday,
April 27.

Evans is seriously ill in St.
