DID GOD EVER FORSAKE
JESUS?
The most baffling and per
plexing utterance ever to fall
from the lips of Jesus is the
fourth work he spoke from the
cross. “My God, My God, why
hast thou forsaken me.” (Matt.
27:46) Some tell us that Jesus
was confidently quoting from
the first part of the 22nd Psalm
HEALTH THOUGHTS
By DR. H. E. COLLIER
Many people wonder why a Chiropractor is so interested
in the spine when often the complaint may be located in the
stomach, kidneys, eyes, legs, etc.
Chiropractors are interested in the spine because it houses
the main channel of life force . . . called the spinal cord. The

means that one or more of the bones of the spine is displaced
slightly from its normal position.
Now you can see why the Chiropractor is so vitally inter
ested in your ack and spine. He is scientifically trained to lo
cate and remove that block to life energy . . . bringing you
health and happiness.
I One of a series of article* published In the pnblie Interest to explain
»d illustrate the practice of scientific Chiropractic, written by Dr. H. L
Collier whose office is located at 101 E. Conyers St., Tel. 3905, Covington,
Georgia.

LIFE CAN
EE BETTER
ROBERT V. OZMENT, Ph. 0.
St. James Church, Atlanta
during this dark hour of des
pair. I cannot believe this.
Throughout the ministry of
' Jesus we have emphasized and
made prevalent his divine na
ture and minimized his human
ity. This has not been a deliber
ate plan. It has come about in
a natural way. The hand of God
is always overwhelmingly im
pressive while the hand of man
is mediocre at its best. In awe
spinal cord may be likened to the
great trunk of the tree from which
many branches and subbranches come
forth.
The spinal cord and nervous sys
tem comprise the main communication
system in your body carrying messages
to and from the brain to every micros
copic cell.
Then there is an open line, so to
speak . . . that is, when the messages
get through, all is well and health is
abundant providing that moderation is
the keynote of living. When there is a
block to that life energy output it
and wonder we have stood and
watched Jesus still the tem
pest; heal broken bodies; soothe
■ fevered brows: raise the dead:
purify filthy souls: redirect the
confused and twisted lives of
I men. In all of this we have been
' more conscious of his divinity
| than his humanity.
When the greatest saints and
wisest philosophers begin to
search for a conclusive answer
to this profound problem one
can say: “Thou hast nothing to
^raw with, and the well is
deep.” The answer is locked in
the mind of Jesus and the sec
। rets of heaven.
A look at the record might
give us some insight into this
| unfathonable question. The pre
j ceding week had been sheer
torture in the life of Jesus. Ju
i das betrayed him. Three of his
' disciples could not stay awake
while Jesus prayed. Peter de
nied him. His closest friends left
him to suffer alone during this
critical hour. He was judged at
the hands of a flippant man. A
crown of thoms was pressed so
| hard on his head that blood
■ trickled down his cheeks. For
almost six hours he hung on the
Cross. It is not surprising that
such physical suffering and
mental torture would cause
Jesus to feel that he stood
' alone. His agony was so great
I that he could neither see a
। friendly face, nor feel the as
suring presence of God for a
moment. Never before have we
seen such stark humanity in
i Jesus as when he said: “My
God, Mv God. why hast thou
forsaken me?” He denied him
self the assurance of God’s pres
ence in order that his soul
be flooded with that indescri
bable feeling of loneliness, sad
-1 ness, isolation, anxiety, emoti
ness and fear which you and
I feel at times as we trave 1 the
i road of life. No feeling of de-
I spair can come to us which
j Jesus does not know about. The
worst possible feeling of which
man is canable is to feel for
saken bv his Creator. The truth
is that God did not forsake
Jesu«. Neither will he forsake
us. Thank God that this fourth
word was not the final word
Jesus spoke from the cross.
With confidence and serenity
his last words from the cross
were: “Father, into Thy hands
। T commend my spirit.” (Luke
23 46) He knew his Father was
near. Thank God for these
words.
