Newborn Ladies Bible Class Held
Bazaar After The Regular Meeting
The Ladies Bible Class of
Newborn met Wednesday af
ternoon in the home of Mrs.
Doyle Smith with Mrs. Marion
Sams as cohostess.
Mrs. Hugh Adams called the
meeting to order. The meeting
was opened by singing “The
Doxology.” Mrs. J. T. Pitts led
in prayer.
Mrs. Adams welcomed every
one. Mrs. Herbert Carson was
welcomed as a new member.
The minutes were read and

the living room furniture and
had given SSO on repairs of the
parsonage. They also voted to
put a new light in the kitchen
' of the parsonage.
There will be a Christmas
party December 16 in the af
ternoon at the church. Each
person is to bring a gift.
Mrs. Hugh Sams gave the
devotional. She gave a very
! interesting talk on the subject:
“Thankful.”
Sandwiches, cookies, nuts
and punch were served during
the social hour.
Following the meeting, a ba
zaar was held. Mrs. Ralph Ad
ams auctioned the articles.
Mr. and Mrs. Calvin Fin
cher and daughter Judy and
Mr. and Mrs. Tommy Wilson
will spend Wednesday night
and Thursday with their mo
ther and grandmother, Mrs. Lu
die Hitchcock, in Columbia,
South Carolina.
Newborn MYF Met Sunday Night;
Officers Elected For The Year
Newborn M.Y.F. met Sunday
night, November 22 at the
Newborn Methodist Church.
Officers were elected and they
are as follows:
Counselor, Mrs. Asbury Craft;
president, Dianne Carson; vice
president, Bruce Brown and
secretary - treasurer, Dianne
Holmes.
The group was divided into
two groups. Faye Holmes was
elected as captain of Group 1,
which has the name of gold.
Ellen Sams is captain of Group
2. with the name of blue. They
First Baptist WMS To Observe
Week of Prayer For Missions
The W. M. U. of the First
Baptist Church will observe
Week of Prayer for Foreign
Missions next week.
The first meeting will be
held Monday, November 30 at
7:30 at the church with the
B. W. C. in charge of the pro
gram.
The Tuesday meeting will be
held at 10 a.m. at the home of
| Mrs. Edgar A. Callaway. Mem
bers of the day circles will
present the program.
All members of the W. M. S.
! are urged to attend the prayer
i meeting service Wednesday
evening at 7:30 at the church
; at which time the pastor, Rev.
' Edgar A. Callaway, will pre
sent the cause of World Mis
sions.

The Lottie Moon Christmas
Offering goal for the women of
the First Baptist Church for
this year is S4OO. This offering
will be received throughout the
week.

learn that Mrs. E. E. Callaway,
Sr. has been dismissed from
Newton County Hospital,
where she was a recent patient:

and pleasant convalescence at
the home of her son and daugh
ter, Mr. and Mrs. E. E. Calla
way, where she is recuperating.
