Hardman stressed that
' NCHS band is a county
d and that membership is
’ ’corned from all communi-
s ‘. The band is called upon
c ing the year to play for
many civic, church and public
gatherings and does not make a
charge for this gesture.
Can you picture in your
mind a home football game on
Homer Sharp Field with no
NCHS band to perform at half
time? These appearance during
the fall alone should be incen
tive enough for all citizens to
help the band in these annual
financial crisis,” Mr. Hardman
added. *

INSULATION
While the chief functions of
wood siding are decorative and
structural, they can be important
factors in insulating the house,
the Southern Pine Association de
clares. Good construction calls
for the placement of siding over
wood sheathing. This gives a 2”
thickness of solid lumber which
provides the same heat resistance
as 12 inches of brick. Place
ment of wood siding on house
walls exposed to afternoon sun
can have a marked effect on the
temperatures of adjacent rooms;
can also make the air condition
ing work better at lower cost.

Dr. Fitterman
Attends Dental
Seminar, Atlanta
Dr. L. Fitterman of Covington
was among 40 dentists attend
ing a one - day postgraduate
seminar in Atlanta February
27. Sponsor of the seminar was
the Fifth District Dental So
ciety, a dental study and edu
cational group. The seminar
was conducted by Dr. John H
Mosteller, nationally promin
ent dental lecturer of Mobile,
Alabama. Subjects covered in
cluded discussion of the res
torative phase of dental prac
tice, with special emphasis on
gold inlays.
Mr. Mosteller pointed out
that the reluctance of the av
erage Southerner to display
gold fillings in his front teeth
has been a big deterrent to
dentistry in this part of t h e
nation. Gold was the first ma
terial ever used for filling teeth,
he said, and in spite of all the
substitutes developed in 100
years of research it is still the
best and most permanent.
