Livingston P-TA Enjoyed Play
Presented At Meeting March 7
President Charles L. Moody
called the March 7 meeting of the
Livingston PTA to order at 7:40
pm. Paul Alexander led the
group in praying the Lor d’s
Prayer.
Everyone enjoyed the play that
was presented by Mrs. Paul Alex,
ander’s second grade class. Also,
the second grade received the $5
grade count award for having 20
parents attend the meeting.
After the business session, the
secofid grade Rhythm Band play-i
ed a selection of songs before the
meeting was adjourned.
The children participating on
the program were: Kim Allen,
Kathy Blanton, Nancy Bone, Gary
Chambers, Charles Day, Terry
Day, Rhonda George, Phil Gard-

To Presbyterian Circle 2 Meeting
Circle No. 2 of the Women off
the Presbyterian Church met Tues
day morning March 1 at the home
of Mrs. E. Lee Stephenson.
Mrs. Herbert Vining, chairman,
introduced the theme of the years
study, “Christ, the Unifying Cen- I
ter.” after the opening prayer,
offered by Mrs. Stephenson.
Mrs. E. P. Nichols then brought
a stirring and inspiring message
from Romans 8. The use of
visual charts increased the vivid
ness of her presentation.

were reported for February.
Mrs. John Hackney, chairman
of the Supper Committee, report
ed that 35 young people attended
the supper at the church on Feb.
14th.
Mrs. Vining dismissed the meet
ing with prayer.

attended the funeral of Dr. Albert
O. Linch in Atlanta on Sunday,
February 28. Mrs. Loyd was a
cousin of Dr. Linch, a prominent
physician.
Friends of Mrs. Willie (Ruby
Lee) Womack are delighted that
she has made satisfactory prog
ress at the Talmadge Memorial
Hospital in Augusta, and is expect
ed home during the week.
Penn Burch underwent surgery
at St. Joseph’s Infirmary in At
lanta on February 24 and is being
wished an early recovery from
illness.
Mr. and Mrs. Edward Curtis
are visiting their parents, Mrs.
Jewell Wilson and Mr. and Mrs.
Whatley Curtis, prior to Mr. Cur
tis’ sailing for duty overseas with
the United States Navy.
Mrs. Jewell Thompson continues
to improve at the home of her
daughter, Mrs. Morris Fincher,
after recent surgery at Newton
County Hospital.
Friends of Mrs. Everett Wilson
regret that her mother. Mrs. Lane
fell while leaving a doctor’s office
and is confined at Newton County
Hospital with a fractured hip.

were overnight guests of their
parents, Mr. and Mrs. A. C. Sa’.'-
ers, in Pendergrass on Saturday,
March 5.

ton County Hospital Tuesday
night. Mrs. Stowe came home
from the hospital Thursday.
Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Day and
boys and Mr. and Mrs. Lewis
Kitchens visited Mr. and Mrs.
Acie Kitchens several times this
week.
Mrs. Mary Nell Sorrow is
happy to have her husband, Ir
vin, home for thirty days.
Everyone seemed to have en
joyed the monthly singing at
Cornish Mountain Church.
There was not as large a crowd
as usual due to the weather
and sickness.

Mr. and Mrs. Wesley Kitchens.
Mr. and Mrs. John Hue Shep
herd, and Grady Shepherd ate
several meals with Mr. and
Mrs. Rashie Shepherd when the
electricity was off.

About the most news I know is
the ice storm. We take many
comforts for granted, but when
the electricity and telephones are
cut off, we can count our bless
ings more.
The old virus bug and mumps
are still in our town. Several are
on the sick list and we wish for
them an early recovery.
We extend our deepest sym
pathy to the family of Mr. J R.
Barksdale who passed away in
Macon and was buried in t h e
Covington Cemetery.
Mrs. George Spearman and
Mrs. Mary Wagner of Farrar
spent Sunday afternoon with Mr.
and Mrs. D. W. Loyd.
Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Malcolm
and Mrs. Kramer Fleming of
Athens visited Mr. and Mrs. Hugh
Adams and Misses Ruth and
Leone Duke, Sunday.
Miss Mary Holcomb, who at
tends school at Emory at Oxford,
spent the weekend at her home
here. We congratulate her on
