THE COVINGTON NEWS
"A NEW ADVENTURE”
A few weeks ago, here appear
ed a note at the end of my week
ly column announcing a little four
page monthly publication called
“Light for Living” which will
begin in April. It will include a
sermon by me, some poetry, quo
tations, jokes and other sections.
I thought I would be able to ac
knowledge by return mail each
person who wrote and asked to
be placed on the mailing list. The
response was so overwhelming
that I find it impossible to assure
each of you by mail that your
| name has been placed on o u r
mailing list, and in April you will
receive your first issue.
Some people have asked me if
I plan to continue writing for the
many newspapers over the state.
The answer is yes. It is a sur
prising thing to me how many of
you have written such nice com
ments about my weekly column.
I am convinced that God has used
this medium to help a lot of people
over some of the rough spots in
life. I am more aware than ever
of the tremendous opportunity,
and at the same time responsibil
ity which rests upon my shoulders
as I write my column each week.
I have discovered that people are
hungry for the peace which comes
only from God.
Many of you have written re
questing prayer for yourself and
your loved ones. You may be!
assured that I pray for you daily.
People are looking for a word of
hope and courage. Many are
earnestly seeking answers to some ■
of life’s most baffling questions.'
I have been thrilled to read in
my mail recently the words. I
“Please pray for me.” Such a
request was not unusual a few |
years ago. I can remember being
in Prayer Meetings where people '
would stand and testify for t h e ’
Lord. Most of our younger gene-'
ration have never had such a won
derful experience. It does a man
good to stand up in a public meet
ing and ask his neighbors to pray
for him. It also makes a neigh
bor feel a certain responsibility
Motorists Warned
To Buy Drivers*
Licenses, Tags
ATLANTA (GPS) — There
are two things all Georgia
motorists should do immediate
ly. They are: (1) Renew your
driver’s license and (2) buy
a 1960 motor vehicle tag. Reas- I
on: The deadline is closing in. !
Col. William P. Trotter, di- i
rector of the Georgia Depart
ment of Public Safety, has an
nounced that “there positively
will be no extension of time
for renewing driver’s licenses
this year.” The deadline: Mar. :
31.
With this in mind, here is
good advice for drivers: If
you haven’t already done so. :
renew your license now and
avoid last-minute rush when
the stand-in-line signs are up. j
With the excention of veterans.'
all persons whose license ex-1
pires March 31, 1960. must have I
it renewed by that date.
“The expiration date is shown
on the face of your present li
cense. and failure to renew it
on time will require a re-ex- •
amination of the driver before
a new one can be issued,”
warns State Patrol Capt. F
M. Davies. “License fees are
the same as last year, but we
cannot accept personal checks.
Renewals mav be made at Pa
trol Headquarters and the State
Capitol in Atlanta and at all
county sites where troopers I
regularly appear.”
Regarding auto license tags,!
t>.« i s April 1: Those
who fail to comply with the
law also are subject to penaly.

ROBERT V. OZMENT, Ph. D.
St. James Church, Atlanta
toward his friend. I am convinc
ed that people have a real desire
f they had the opportunity to say
“Pray for me"
Some of you have asked if you
could have a friend or loved one
nlaced on our mailing list for
“Light for Living.” If you think
of someone who might enjoy this
little paper, I will be glad to put
them on the list.
Prayer is probably the greatest
spiritual force in the world. It
can change your life. We all
need to cultivate the experience
of prayer. If you don’t have a
time for prayer and meditation,
begin the day and let God have a
place in your life. Make a prayer
list and pray for yourself as well
as for others each day.
In April, Dr. Ozment will be
gin a new monthly publication
called “Light for Living”. It will
include one of his sermons and
other sections, such as “Lines
That Rhyme, Worth Quoting. Gems
That Glitter, My Prayer I’ll Try,
and Why Not Laugh?” If you
would like to be placed on -he
mailing list, write your name and
address on a post card and mail
