Neighbor!
M. S. M.
“If from cherished childhood
scenes
Fate and fortune have brought
you here,
And your heart still homeward
leans;
Remember—New friends with
time grow dear.
Your joys, your sorrows are of
ours a part,
So. help us to know you that j
we may share
This experience of Life, with
open heart;
Welcome Neighbor! We’re glad
you are here.”
Editor's Noto: If you know or have
a New Neighbor whom you would like
to have presented in the "Welcome
Neighbor” column, please call Mrs.
Leo Mallard, Phono 2519.
We just hope none of the
new neighbors arriving in our
midst get any mistaken ideas
as to the chilly reception Old
i Man Winter has been greet
ing them with! It has been
without our knowledge, de
sire or intent; and is by no
means a barometer of t h e
warmth of the welcome we
I are eager to extend to those
who. in coming to dwell with
us, feel they “have cast their
lines in pleasant places”.
Such a welcome reaches out
to Mr. and Mrs. Robert W.
Reid, who have recently mov
ed from Atlanta, to their new
ly completed home on Dial
Mill Road, just opposite th£
home of their parents. Mr. and
Mrs. J. T. Dennard. Mr. Reid,
an Atlanta native, is manager
of the Atlanta Bus Terminal
parking lot, and commutes
daily. He is a fishing enthu
siast, and also enjoys golf
and reading, Mrs. Reid, lists
homemaking arts of cooking,
needlecraft and decorating, as
well as flowers, and shares her
husbands love of fishing, as
hobbies. Newton County is al
ways happy to re-claim its
own; and is especially glad
that the Reids have chosen
this as their home. They are
welcome additions to the Mt.
Zion Baptist Church mem
bership.

We Just Want
To Say:
z
It's fine to live in a community where public
service is manned by men and women who respond
beyond the call of duty as they did during our re
cent sleet storm.
We want to take this opportunity to congratu
late such men and women as worked with our local
R. E. A., telephone company, city and county em
ployees and our local radio station.
We know that the above people worked around
the clock for several days - and we, as citizens, are
proud of them and proud to call them neighbors,
and we are thankful for such service.
