to bring you more
electric power
EVERYONE is using more electricity —in
homes, businesses, industries and on the
farms. To meet this growing demand, m
1960 the Georgia Power Company will spend
$54 million—more than $1 million a week—
to expand and improve the electrical
facilities that serve you.
This year’s construction will include the
beginning of Plant McDonough, a 500,000-
kilowatt, steam-electric generating station
to be built near Atlanta. Work will be
started at mid-year on a 30,000-kilowatt
plant for North Highlands Dam at
Columbus. Other generating projects are
well under way, and hundreds of miles
of power lines will be built
During the past 10 years the Georgia
Power Company has spent much more than
$423 million in anticipating and meeting your
demands for electric power. That’s a k>t of
money, to be sure, but it makes sure
that you have electricity whenever and
wberevar you want it,

brides, and Miss Polly Davis

Guests were greeted alternately
during the calling hours from
three until six, by Mrs. E. P.
Nichols, who wore forest green
silk with floral print; Mrs. Robert
Fowler, wearing a chiffon and
satin model in teal blue; and
Mrs. Lee Stephenson, in b e i g e
lace over taffeta.
A compote of magnolia blos
soms was reflected at the base
of one of the living room's pier
mirrors; and a fan arrangement
of white gladiolus at the other.
A pink candle arrangement v ith
base and central poufs of laven
der and pink rosebuds, forget-me
nots and lilacs in a burgundy
glass compote formed the coffee
table arrangement. French bisque ■

held baskets of white carnations, I
and nosegays of fragrant Chinese !
sacred lilies, interspersed with
white net bows, showered with
white satin streamers in which
were tied miniature wedding bells.
In the music room, where the
receiving line formed, a milk
glass compote of pink and white
snapdragons, carnations and
stock, was used on the piano; and
an antique cutglass compote held
the mantel arrangement of pink
roses with pink into mauve clus
ters of grapes. Mrs. Belmont
Dennis, wearing white silk linen
with appliqued Chantilly lace in
capri blue, presented guests to the
receiving line; and was assisted
by Mrs. Ben Banks, wearing navy

and wore a corsage of pink car

the empire lines; Mrs. Morcock
wore lace over satin, fashioned
sheath style, with batteau neck

Goode also wore a sheath style,
in gray lace over pink, with
crushed chiffon cummerbund;
Mrs. M. W. McCurdy of San

Green and white were accentuat

noted the wedding motif. The
dining table, overlaid with an im
ported fillet and embroidered
cloth, held a center piece of white
snapdragons, carnations and
stock, interspersed with gypso
philia and plumosis fern, with
complementing nosegay arrange

the three branch containers of
the antique silver epergne. Nose

valley lilies, showered with tiny
white satin ribbons were also
spaced to advantage in adding a
further decorative note. Silver
services at the table’s ends; sil

pastel green and white embossed

which had topped the 25th wedding
anniversary cake of Mr. and Mrs

I lent further interest to the nuptial
