Salem

Good morning. Hope everyone
is fine this week, and since St.
Patrick's Day eomes around this
week, we will greet al! the Irish
readers with a very special “Top
of the Morning.”
Guess that we have all seen
winter put on an act until we are
sort of fed up, and will be glad
when next week and spring gets
here.
The snow storm last week was
beautiful here at Salem, and
since weather controls our visit
ing to a great extent, you, of
course will not be surprised to
know that “Frosty the snow man
and woman” were the most fre
quent visitor seen in Salem last
weekend.
In all the snow of Saturday, me
better half and I went to Atlanta
to see the stage show. “My Fair
Lady"
Most of the lawns here at Salem
had a visitor in that Frosty could
be seen at quite a few of the
homes. I think perhaps the

Kemp girls had the largest snow
man around, tor he looked at
least 10 feet high. Mr. Kemp
quickly rigged up a sled for the
girls and with Rosie and Susan
Robertson, they enjoyed the snow
on Friday afternoon.
Rosie Robertson and her mother
both enjoyed birthdays last week.
Rosie had a cake 'n cream party
at her home Sunday afternoon.
To these and ethers who are
celebrating birthdays along about
now. we say “Many Happy Re
turns.”
The sick list has shortened
around here, however. Miss Irene
Smith does continue sick and her
many friends are remembering
her in her sickness. To any sick,
here is a special wish for your
recovery.
Miss Wanda Bailey was home
from Middle Georgia College at
Cochran for the weekend.

two weeks, it is good to know

Seminary, Decatur, was dinner
guest Sunday of Mr. and Mrs.

Mr. and Mrs. Paul Stewart
motored to Decatur, Sunday after
worship services at Hopewell Pres
byterian Church to visit their son

Gary had as their Sunday dinner

Mrs. W. B. Harvey entered
Crawford Long Hospital Monday.
She underwent surgery on Tues
day, March 15. We trust Mrs.
Harvey will have a complete re
covery and be able to return to
her home soon.

Cooperative Program of the
Georgia Convention showed a
healthy increase of 23 per cent
for February, 1960, over Feb

gifts for February, 1960, total
ed $286,061.87 for a dollar gain
of $53,498.23 over February,
1959. Total giving through the
gifts, totaled $435,667.14 for
February, 1960.
For the two-month period,
January - February, 1960, giv
ing showed an increase of 15.7
per cent over Janua-y - Feb
ruary, 1959, for the Coopera
tive Program. The two- month
period in 1960 showed a dollar
total of $555,035.60 for undesig
nated Cooperative Program, and
