The Thirty - second Annual
Convention of the Garden Club
of Georgia, Inc,, will convene
in Macon on April 11th, 12th
and 13th. On Monday evening
from 8 to 10 P. M. a Coffee will
be given (Courtesy of the Geor
gia Power Company) for the
delegates arriving early at the
Hotel Dempsey headquarters
for the Convention.
The Board Meeting will be
held on Monday evening at 7
P. M. at the Sidney Lanier
Cottage. Hostesses for the meet
ing will be Mrs. R. J. Carmi
chael, Mrs. Ernest Corn, Mrs.
Everett Flournov and Mrs.
Frank Willingham, all of Ma
con.

The Banquet on Tuesday
evening at the Hotel Dempsey
will have Dr. Pierce Harris,
Pastor of the First Methodist
Church of Atlanta, Georgia, as
speaker on “A Working Creed—
For a Changing World”.
Presentation of Awards will
be made at the Banquet by Mrs.
Everett Flourney of Macon,
State Awards Chairman.

ings from the South Atlantic
Region”. The breakfast will
honor the Juniors in the State.
The theme for the Breakfast
will be “Salt of the Earth”. Mrs.
Lawrence Knox of Thomson is
Junior Chairman.
The Wednesday Business
Meeting, opening at 9:30 A. M.,

Neighboring towns of Bain
bridge and Thomasville have
scheduled their tours so that it
will be possible to visit Bain
bridge one day and proceed to
the Thomasville tour on the
following day.
Bainbridge and Thomasville
Tours
March 26 and 27, 1966.
The Bainbridge tour on Sat
urday, March 26, will be spon
sored by the Bainbridge Gar
den Club. Chairman is Mrs. M.
E. Golucke; Cochairman, Miss
Claudia Des Verges. The hours
are 1:00 P. M. to 6 P. M Head
quarters, where tickets may be
obtained are at the Stephen
Decatur Hotel Four Homes will
be open.
The home of Mr. and Mrs.
R. T. Willis, Lake Douglas Road
is Williamsburg in type, with
furnishings of that period. The
interior color is predominately
green with harmonizing acces
sories. There are fine crystal
chandeliers in both living and
dining rooms and in the hall.
On the Tallahassee Highway
is the home of Mr. and Mrs. R.
L. Rich. This is a contemporary
type house set in spacious
grounds planted with azaleas,
bulbs, annuals and perennials.
There are terraces both in front
and back of this comfortable
home. The one in front is giv
en privacy by the unusual use
of a brick wall.
The home of Mr. and Mrs.
O. M. Greene, 627 E. Broughton
St. is built of rosy biege and
brick and rosy beige and pink
are interior colors of this
home which is furnished in
both old and new furniture.
At 577 Scott Street, is t h e
home of Mrs. J. D. Bower. Her
home is made interesting by the
use of treasurs which she
collected on a world wide tour.
It is surrounded by a wooded
area, spacious lawns, flowering
shrubs and bulbs.
On the following day, March
27, the tour moves to nearby
Thomasville, where it is spon
sored by the Thomasville Gar
den Club. Inc. Mrs. W. B. Da
niell is chairman and Mrs. T.
Haywood Vann is co-chairman.
Headquarters are at the Thom
asville Garden Center, where
tickets may be bought.

and Mrs. William Watkins 111,

Road. Many holly trees blend

done in Early American style.

landscaped grounds. Twenty -
five of the country’s finest
trotters and pacers will be seen
here. These horses get their
winter training here on a 5/8
mile track.
