Second Grade
There are 11 girls and 23
boys in the second grade. We
started the first day trying to
develop good school habits.
Each is trying real hard to be
a good listener, to follow direc
tions and to be a good citizen.
We have made some progress.
Laura Kemp, Mildred Hol
der, Buster Hewell, Bennie
Owens, J. B. Lazenby and
Gene Hunt joined second grade
this year. They were enrolled
ip other Georgia Schools last
year.
We are eager to be good
.readers so we can read some of
the interesting looking books
that the P.T.A. gave to the
school library. We appreciate
► this gift. The books will en
pch our school program a lot.
We are looking forward to
a good school year and we hope
to learn a lot.

Mrs. Bonner’s
Fifth Grade
We have a large class this
year, with three new pupils.
They are Sandra Williams, Joe
Brewer and Johnny Jones. So
far our attendance has been
excellent, in spite of the very
hot weather.
Our new arithmetic and
spelling books are so nice. W’
are going to enjoy them and
we are going to try to take
good care of them. We are very
proud of our science library
too. All the books are full of
so many interesting things.
This year we will study and try
to solve problems in science
not just from our book but
from many.
All of us are working hard
to try to improve our hand
writing. We are also working
to become good school citizens.
Here is a quotation about it
which we will learn and try
to put into practice: “If I learn
to boss myself wisely, no one
will ever need to boss me”.
We had our first fire drill
last week. It went fine but we
can improve and we want to
beat our time for clearing the
buildings. Terry Arnold and
Drew Mcßay are the fire mar
shals for our room.

Eleven girls and 17 boys

We are glad to have Rose

come to us from other schools.
We have some “Good Citi

comers at school. We will have
others before Citizenship Day,
September 17.
All of us were glad to see

him to miss Thursday and Fri
day. Rhonda Georgia was ab
sent last week, also.
We are enjoying the new
books on our reading table.
There are many new ones in
the library that were bought
by our P.T.A. We hope to read
many of these during our j

population increase in blind
children in the period follow
ing World War II is due largely
to the life-saving measures
formerly used for premature
babies. Excessive administra

visual conditions for many of
these tiny babies before the
cause was discovered in 1954.
