Salem

Hello, to each onet his morning
and a special good morning to the
sick people of our community and
elsewhere. We will begin Salem
News this week by saying that
Mrs. Hubert Grier is able to be
out after a stay in the hospital.
Miss Brenda Bailey is home
from Newton Hospital after an
appendectomy last week.
Mrs Billy Knight is a patient at
Newton Hospital at this writing
having had a tonsillectomy last
week.
Mrs. Slade Ellington is on the
sick list at this writing.
So to each of the sick — here
is a wish for your speedy recovery.
Hurrican Donna has brought us
cooler weather and we are thank
ful that we escaped the real blow
that our neighbors to the South
suffered.
We send special greetings to all
the people who will be celebrating
birthdays and anniversaries dur
ing September, and a belated note
of congratulations to Mr. and Mrs.
Jeff Autry. A son, Jefferson
Clark, arrived at their home re
cently to bless their lives and
Mr. and Mrs Grier Holifield join
ed the ranks of grandparents with
the arrival of little Jefferson Clark.
So a real big vote of congratula
tion to all these happy new parents
and grandparents.
On Saturday night Mr. and Mrs.
Douglas Yancey had as their
dinner guests the following. Mr.
and Mrs. John E. Taylor Sr. of
Stuart. Fla., Dr. and Mrs. John
E. Taylor Jr. and family and Mr.
and Mrs. Fritz Smith and son,
Ricky, all of Atlanta.
Mr. and Mrs. G. W. Ramsey
went to Atlanta Sunday afternoon
where they spent the night with
their children, Mr. and Mrs Her
bert Cook and Sherry.
Mr and Mrs. Slade Ellington Sr.
Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Savage and
Mr. and Mrs. G. W. Ramsey were
dinner guests last Tuesday night
of Mr. and Mrs. Grady Jones on
Jackson Highway.
Mr. and Mrs. J. C. Darby went
to Decatur last Thursday where
they visited their children. Mr.
and Mrs. Jack Daniel and daugh
ter Chris. On Saturday Mr. and
Mrs. Darby were joined by Mr.
and Mrs. Alton Johnson and all
went to Macon and spent the week
end with Mr. and Mrs. Jimmy
Darby.
Mr. and Mrs. C. D. Redd of At
lanta spent Sunday and Monday
with Mr. and Mrs. W. C. Bates.
On Saturday Mr. and Mrs. Forest
Bates and children of Decatur
were dinner guests of the Bates.

Donough Sunday where they en
joyed a “possum dinner” with all
the trimmings at the home of Mr.
