The annual Moore Reunion
was held Sunday at the 'home
of Mr. and Mrs. Tom Moore
with a delicious basket lunch
served on tables in the yard
of the home.

the young couple took their
wedding vows from the Rev.
Ed Owens of Lithonia, former
pastor of the bride at Mount
Zion Baptist Church, in the
double ring service.
Miss Eloise Watkins, sister
of the bride, as maid of honor,
was the only attendant. She
wore a romance blue silk or
ganza with matching shoes,
with a shoulder corsage of
white carnations.
Paul Leverett, unde of the
groom, was his only attendant.
The bride selected a balleri
na length wedding gown of
peau de soie fashioned with a
tight fitting waist and full
skirt, featuring a Chantilly lace
yoke and tight fitting sleeves.
Completing her outfit were
white lace shoes and a corsage
of white carnations centered
with a white orchid over a
white satin Bible and long sat
in Bible and long satin ribbon
streamers.
Immediately after the wed
ding, which was attended by
the immediate families and a
few close friends, the couple
left for a short wedding trip.
Mr. Mason, a graduate of
Newton County High School, is
employed by Lithonia Lighting
Company in Conyers and Mrs.
Mason is a junior at Newton
County High and is employed
part time in the office of Dr.
Israel Fitterman. They are
making their home at 605 Con
yers Street.

Installs Officers

Class of the Porterdale Meth
odist Church recently installed
Officers and Teachers for the
ensuing year. Those accepting
the responsibility were: Pres

Teachers, who will rotate Sun
days, are H. V. Johnson, Jr.;

would like to extend a cordial
invitation to all married cou
ples who are not, attending
any class to come and join us.

the members who have not at
tended for some time to pledge
themselves anew to do more
for the Lord during the com
ing year than they have in
the past. We need you and we
hope you need us. We enjoy
fellowships together once a
quarter and it helps us to be
come better acquainted with

Circle Meeting
Held Monday
The Marie Wilson Circle es
Zion Baptist Church met at
the home of Mrs. Marshall
Caldwell, Monday, September
26 at 7:30 p.m. with five mem
bers present.
The meeting was ealled to
order by the program chair
man and opening prayer was
led by Mrs. Earl Starr. Devo
tional was given by Mrs. Floyd
George.
During the business session,
all committee reports were
given. Minute* were read and
approved.
An interesting program "Be
yond the Tithe” was given.
Those taking part were Mrs.
Norman McCullough. Mrs. Earl
Starr and Mrs. Howell John
son.
After the meeting, delicious
refreshments were served by
the hostess.

day dinner guests of Mr. and
Mrs. Herman Wicks and Peggy
of Atlanta and their guests

Starrsville WSCS Meeting Hears
Program by Mrs. L. H. Cook, Sr.

chairman for the month, pre
sented a most interesting and
inspiring program at the Sep
tember meeting of the Starrs
ville W.S.C.S The group met
on September 21 at the Com
munity Clubhouse. The meet
ing opened with the singing of
“Faith Os Our Fathers.” The
program book, “The World in
Our Midst” was introduced.
Mrs. Cook gave the devotional
which was followed by pray
er. Assisting with the program
were Mrs. J. H. Anderson. Mrs.
W. H. Butler and Mrs. C. C.
Epps. The program was closed
with the group singing of
“Jesus Shall Reign.”
Following the program, Mrs.
J. M. Aiken presided over the

Oxford Woman's Club, Tues. Afternoon
The September meeting of
the Oxford Womans Club was
held at the home of Mrs. Vic
tor Williams with Mrs. Carl
Allgood as cohostess on Tues
day afternoon. Mrs. Sybil El
lington, president, welcomed
Mesdames J. A. Durden and
Henry Greene as guests. Also
given a special welcome was
Mrs. E. J. Mackay of Atlanta, a
beloved former president.
Mesdames Laura Dodson,
William Cook, Nelson Hoffman,
Lucile Crabtree and E. L. Fic
guett were welcomed as new
members and as new residents
of Oxford. Mrs. Mackay read
the collect and led the Salute
to the Flags, after which the
group sang, “God Bless Ameri
ca”.
Mrs. Ruth Suddeth was in
troduced and gave a most in
teresting talk on “The Preser
vation of History”, as promoted
by the Georgia Historical So
ciety. She told of the seventeen
hundred Civil War markets in
Georgia and the museums en-

bueiness session. The secretary
called the roll and read the
minutes of the last meeting.
Fourteen members were pres
ent. Mrs. Lila Maddox was a
welcome visitor. Group chair
men were appointed for the
purpose of stimulating interest
in attendance. The Christmas
Card project was explained.
Mrs. Wilson Walton expressed
appreciation for the many kind
nesses shown her during her
recent illness. Detailed plans
for the barbecue which the
church will sponsor on October
5 were made.
At the conclusion of the busi
ness session, Mrs. W. H. But
ler, hostess for the afternoon,
served a delicious dessert
course.

Friday afternoon, when she en
tertained members of her club
at a dessert - bridge, at her
home on Church Street.
The autumn theme was em
phasized in yellow chrysanthe
mums used in a cutglass pitcher
arrangement, and yellow snap
dragons in an antique crystal
bowl, which enhanced the at
tractive living room setting.
Upon arrival guests were
served a delicious sweet course
with coffee by the hostess. In
the following games, Mrs. R. O.
