MODERN SCHOOLS
Hundreds of handsome mo
dern schools feature a combi
nation of glued laminated lum
ber beams placed horizontally
at ceiling level, crowned by a
wood roof deck. According to
the Southern Pine Association,
the beams can be manufactured
in several hundred foot lengths
to provide clear span support
for large school buildings. The
wood beams and roof decking
can be beautifully finished and
exposed to give a cathedral
effect to the ceiling.
