Miss Lafferty is the daughter
of the late Edward John Laf

The bride-elect, a graduate
of Lakeland High School, at
tended Florida State Universi
ty, Tallahassee, where she was
a member of Kappa Delta So
rority, the Board of Publica
tions and society editor of the
Florida Flambeau. She received
her BS degree in elementary
education and is now employ
ed at Rich’s Atlanta.
Mr. Campbell, a graduate of
Newton County High School,
attended North Georgia Col
lege, Dahlonega, where he was
a member of the varsity bas
ketball team. He received his
BS degree in industrial man
agement from Georgia Tech
where he was a member of
Alpha Tau Omega fraternity.
He is now associated with Un-
Myrtle Combs Circle Met Thursday
At Church's Educational Building
The Myrtle Combs Circle of
the First Baptist Church met
on November 17 at 3:30 in the
educational building of the
church. The meeting was open
ed with the group singing
“Give of Your Best”.
Mrs. Grady Walton lead the
opening prayer. The group was
welcomed by the chairman,
Mrs. J. M. Allison. The watch
words were repeated in unison.

treasurers report and the of
fering was taken and the dif
ferent committees were called
on for reports with very en
couraging reports.
The mission study chairman,
Mrs Thompson, has planned
for all to meet at her home on
Monday night, November 21

chapters closed their fall rush.
Alpha Delta Phi, Delta Delta
Delta, and Kappa Kappa Gam
ma each received 25 pledges.
Alpha Chi Omega pledged 24,
Kappa Alpha Theta 23, Chi
Omega 20, Kappa Delta 19,
Delta Gamma 18, Phi Mu 10,
and Alpha Epsilon Phi 8. Fur

GSCW To Stage
'Handel's Messiah'
Sunday, Dec. 4th
Handel’s “Messiah” will be
presented at the Georgia State
College for Women at Mil
ledgeville on Sunday evening,
December 4, at 8:30 o’clock.
Dr. Max Noah will be the con
ductor.
Participating will be the
GSCW Choir which will be
supplemented by individual
singerg of the community.
The Atlanta Symphony En
semble will accompany the
choir, and Miss Maggie Jenkins
will be the organist. Soloists
for the performance will in
clude Miss Quillian White, so
prano; Miss Sunny Hancock,
contralto; Haskell Boyter, bar
itone; and Stanley Perry, ten

will meet Monday November
28 at 3:30 p. m. at the home of

Fidelis Sunday School Class Meeting
The Fidelis Sunday School
class of the First Baptist
Church met November 17 at
3:30 p.m. for their monthly
meeting at the home of Mrs.
J. F. Biggers.
The president, Mrs. W. R.
Nunn opened the meeting with
the group praying the Lord’s
Prayer. Mrs. Nunn thanked
Mrs. Biggers for inviting the
class to meet at her home.
Mrs. J. S. Harris gave a
beautiful devotional reading
for her scripture the 63rd
Psalms followed with several
interesting comments closing
with a poem “My Faith”.
The secretary, Mrs. Biggers,
read the minutes and called the
roll with seventeen answering
with Bible verses. There were
two visitors present, Mrs. C. C.
King and Mrs. R. H. Greene.
Mrs. R. B. Yancey gave the
Presbyterian Women Hear Interesting
Lecture On Stewardship by Mr. Teed
The Women of the First
Presbyterian Church met Tues
day morning, November 15, at
the church with 25 members
present. The meeting was call
ed to order by the president,
Mrs. E. L. Patrick. The hymn,
“Have Thine Own Way, Lord”,
was sung followed by prayer by
Mrs. Patrick.
Mrs. Lee Stephenson, who
was in charge of the program,
introduced Robert Teed of Co
lumbia Seminary, who spoke on
Stewardship.
The minutes of the last meet
ing were read and approved

and friend who faithfully serv
ed with us and is now departed.

group with prayer.
During the social hour de

ed by the hostess.
Each member was asked to
bring a gift for a patient at
Milledgeville State Hospital to
the December meeting, which
will meet December 8 at the
home of Mrs. R. B. Yancev.

placed on file. A tribute to Mrs.
Mary Callaway was read and a
memorial gift in her honor was
sent to Thromwell Orpanage.
Mrs. Johnny Hackney, repre
senting the finance committee,
presented the budget for 1960-
61, which was adopted. The

Family Night supper to be held
November 16, and also of t h e
Evening Worship service at
which time Mr. White is teach
ing the Book of Genesis.
