Wilson-Moody Wedding Vows Spoken
At Double-Ring Ceremony at P'dale
Miss Margie Everett Wilson,
daughter of Mr. and Mrs.
Everett O. Wilson of Porter
dale and James L. Moody, son
of Mr. and Mrs. Len Moody of
Patterson were united in mar
riage at an impressive double
ring service performed at t h e
Porterdale Baptist Church on
Friday evening, November 11,
at 5 O’clock. Rev. Mr. Jimmy
Edwards officiated at the can
dlelight service.

The bride, given in marriage
by her father, wore a floor
length wedding gown of white
chantilly lace over taffeta. The
fitted bodice featured a sweet
heart neckline and full length
lily point sleeves. The bouffant
skirt, worn over hoops, featur
ed rows of ruffled net int h e
back which were caught up to
the waist. Her tiered wveil of
illusion was caught to a rhine
stone tiara. She carried a cas
cade of white chrysanthemums
centered with a white orchid
‘and showered with white satin
streamers.
Mrs. Wilson chose a teal blue
wool sheath with three quar
ter length sleeves for her
daughter’s wedding. With this
she wore blue accessories and
a white carnation corsage.
Mrs. Moody, mother of the
groom, selected a suit of royal
blue brocaded satin with which
she wore white accessories and
a white carnation corsage,

Jordans' Silver Wedding Anniversary
The attractive country home
of the Claude Jordans was the
scene on Wednesday evening of
‘one of the highlights of the
‘holiday social season, when
they were hosts at an open
‘house upon the occasion of
}flyeir twenty-fifth wedding an
‘niversary.
Mrs. Jordan, who wore a
‘cocoa peau de soie with scoop
ed neckline and full skirt,
complimented by a corsage of
irose camellias, and Mr. Jordan,
greeted guests.
l The mantel arrangement of
mammoth white chrysanthe
mums, white gladiolus and
doby chrysanthemums, inter
spersed with silvered ivy, form
ed the floral focal point in the
living room. Occasional table
arrangements of white chry
santhemums and gladiolus in
a silver bowl, and white car
nations and silvered ivy in a
crystal vase, continued the an
niversary theme. Two large
chrysanthemums with mag
nolia leaves formed the low
arrangement on the coffee ta
blee Twin compositions
of silver anniversary
candles on inverted milk
glass goblets, with base ar
rangements of silvered ivy and
wedding bells, were used to
advantage on the piano.
The buffet table, overlaid
with white damask, held a
central arrangement of white
snapdragons, doby chrysanthe
mums and silvered ivy, in a
silver compote, flanked by
single candlebrum holding
white candles with base ruffs
of maline, ivy, and valley li
lies.
Silver trays of delectable
meats, salads hot rolls and
fruit cake completed the ap
pointments.
The buffet featured the three
tiered, white embossed anni
versary cake, traced with spun
sugar florets and silver dragees,
and topped with the silver
numerals “25"” within a horse~

Immediately following t h e
ceremony the couple were hon
ored with a reception given in
the church parlor. The bride’s
table was overlaid with a white
lace cloth centered with a bea
utifully embossed three tiered
wedding cake topped with the
traditional miniature bride and
groom. Assisting in serving
were Mrs. Joann Knight, Miss
Annette Fraser and Miss Polly
Smallwood. ‘ )
For their honeymoon trip to
Tennessee the bride selected a
two piece gray wool suit. With
this she wore white accessories
and the white orchid from her
wedding bouquet.
At present Mr. Moody is sta
tioned at Miami with the Coast
Guard. Mrs. Moody is at pre
sent staying in Porterdale and
will join her husband the first
of the year when he is station
ed at a permanent base.

Mrs. M. H. Irvin, who wore
black taffeta, and Mrs. Lamar
Callaway, wearing a Christmas
red lace costume, also assisted
in entertaining,
Christmas begonias lent col
orful charm in the TV room,
and in an adjoining room,
where anniversary gifts were
displayed to advantage.
Forty friends were included
in the open house guest list,

High Future Homemakers
Chapter, Brenda Moon, a mem
ber of the committee and theirl
advisor visited the local Rest
Home Tuesday afternoon, No—{
vember 22. They presented
fruits and pepperment balls to
members and then remained
for a while so that they could
become better acquainted.
The Thanksgiving visit was
planned because members of
Newton Chapter recalled so
pleasantly their wvisit to their
home last Christmas.

ly meeting at the Elks Home
on Monday night, November
28. Mrs. C. T. Bohanan, vice
president, presided over the
meeting. She welcomed all
members and our guests, Mrs.
Harry Dietz and Eddie Najjar.
Reports were given by all
standing committees. Mrs. Fred
Lott and Mrs. Johnny Hackney
were appointed to the com
mittee to work with Brownie
Scout Troop No. 207, which the
Elkadettes are sponsoring. Mo
tion was made and carried that
$lO. be donated to the Girl
Scouts.
Elkadettes annual Christmas
party will be held on Decem
ber 17, at 7:30. Entertainment
committee for the party is Mrs.
Robert Hodges, chairman; Mrs.
Mickey Johnson, Mrs. Bonham
Johnson and Mrs. Horace Day.

Mrs. Bohanan introduced
Mrs. Harry Dietz, Newton
County librarian. Mrs., Dietz
gave an interesting talk on the
many services that are being
offered at the Newton County
Library. A new service, a Me
morial Shelf, has recently been
added. Anyone who wishes may
give a book in memory of a
loved one. Mrs. Dietz brought
out the fact that any desired
material which is not available
in the library can be secured
for you from the Decatur-De-
Kalb Library.
Mrs. Dan Clower presented
Eddie Najjar, assistant prin
cipal of Newton County High
School. Mr. Najjar touched
briefly on the subject of erowd
ed classrooms, the teenage mar
riage problem and aunit re
quirements for graduation. He
stressed the fact that though
Newton County has a sufficient
number of well trained teach
ers, there is a general teacher
shortage throughout the na
tion. Our great need now is
to interest more young people
in the teaching profession.

The Annie Armstrong Circle
met November 21, at the home
of Mrs. W. B. Thompson in Ox
ford. The meeting opened with
prayer, minutes were read and
approved. The group was re
minded that the Lottie Moon

and gave devotional services
and carried fruit baskets for
the patients there.
Members were urged to re=-
member shut ins and unenlisted
members with cards at Christ
mas time. Mrs. Callaway stress
ed the importance of contacting
our new members and some
who have never been in our
WMU. The meeting closed with
chain prayers. :
