ADHESIVES
Not a single rivet can be
found in .th* fusilage of the
Air Force's new B-58 bomber.
The entire assembly is held to
gether against the impact of
supersonic speed by new ad
hesive of immense strength.
According to the Southern
Pine Association, similar pro
cesses are being applied to
glued laminated lumber. While
wood is stronger for its weight
than steel, the adhesive are
stronger than the wood itself.
By such means, standard 1"
and 2” thicknesses of South
ern Pine have been glued and
shaped into immense struc
tural arches attaining heights
equivalent to that of 10 story
buildings.
Four most frequent causes
of farm fires are defective
heating equipment, faulty
chimneys and flues, defective
and overloaded electrical wir
ing and matches and smoking,
