The Corrie Wright Circle of
the First Methodist Church, met
on December 19. in the church
dining room with Mrs. John
Bob Weaver and Mrs. Charles
Harwell as cohostess.
The group opened the meet
ing by singing, "Silent Night’’.
Mrs. C. D. Ramsey Jr., chair
man, presided over the business
session. Mrs. Jack Meadors gave
the secretary’s report. Mrs. A.
D. Jordan, WSCS treasurer,
gave a report. The sunshine
chairman was asked to send
Christmas cards to shutins and

Play "Errands Os Love" At Meeting
The Women of the First
Presbyterian Church met Tues
day morning, December 13 at
10 o’clock in the Fellowship
Hall with twenty members and
one visitor present.
The meeting was called to
order by the president, Mrs.
E. L. Patrick. The hymn “Joy
To The World” was sung fol
lowed with prayer by Mrs.
Patrick. The minutes of the
last meeting were read and
approved after which the trea

The Covington Womans Club
met December 6, at the Fic
quett Auditorium at which
time they enjoyed a most de
lightful Christmas tea.
After a few words from the
president, Mrs. L. A. Patrick,
Eddie Najjar presented an in
finitely beautiful Christmas
program. We all enjoyed it
very much and because of it
were able to realize a closer
com m u nion with the true
meaning of Christmas. It was

Refreshments were served
from a beautifully decorated
table and an inspiring period of
fellowship followed.

Club Has Party
The Flint Hill Demonstration
Club met on Monday, December
19, for their Christmas party.
The meeting was called to or
der by our president, Mrs. He
len Hester. Old and new busi
ness was brought up with plans
being made for the new year.
After the devotional led by
Mrs. George Berry games were
played then we had our Christ
mas tree and refreshments were
served. Quite a few members
were absent, so we trust they
can be with us at our next
meeting.
Gleaner Class
Porterdale Has
Christmas Supper
The Gleaner Sunday School
Class of the Porterdale Metho
dist Church enjoyed a Christ
mas supper together in the
basement of the Church Sun
day afternoon at five-thirty.
The supper was served smor
gasbord and was prepared by
N. S. Avery and his commit
tee.
The tables were beautifully
decorated in the Christmas mo
tif. At the beginning of the
supper each member of the
class pinned an envelope on
the Christmas tree to be pre
sented to the Church for Mis
sions. Homer Huckaby, Chair
man of Missions for the Church
thanked the group for the
wonderful response.
Gifts were presented to Rob
ert Lummus, president of the
class, H. V. Johnson, Jr. teach
er, N. S. Avery, teacher; Lewis
Caldwell, teacher, and Mrs.
Betty Bellairs, teacher. Neal
Wheeler led the group in
Christmas carols. The class
then attended the evening ser
vices at the church in a group.
There were forty-two mem
bers present.

Miss Vivian Bower and Mrs.
Lyda Sue B. Hall returned home
Wednesday afternoon from
Emory University Hospital
where Miss Bower has been a
patient for surgery. She is be
ing extended best wishes fur a
speedy recovery.

Club Holds Yule Tree and Party
The Hays District Home
Demonstration Club met De
cember 7, for the Annual
Christmas Tree and Party.
Eighteen homemakers ans
wered the roll call. Miss Thel
ma Towns was a welcomed vis
itor.
The president, Mrs. W. L.
Barber, called the meeting to
order at 2.30 and presided over
a short business session.
The secretary, Mrs. G. H.
Mutimer, read a letter of thanks
from Mrs. Hazel Malone. Mrs.
Malone was thanking the home
makers for the check to help
with her Chicago trip. Mrs.
Charles Ewing led a Christmas
devotional.

Philippians 1:12-20. Miss
Kathryn Reagan presented the
monthly emphasis on “Let’s
Learn About Annuities and
Relief.”
There were ten members pre
sent with two visitors. A special
offering was taken for the Joy
Gift. The minutes were read
and approved. After the busi
ness session, the hostess served
delicious orange ambrosia and
cake and mixed nuts.

Mr. and Mrs. M. B. Shaw
entertained members of the
Gleaner Sunday School Class
after the regular evening
church service at their home
on North Broad, Sunday Dec.
18th. with coffee and cake. The
home was decorated in the
Christmas motif.
An open log fire welcomed
the guests into the entrance
hall. A mantle decoration in
the living room was decorated
by the Shaw children includ
ing their Christmas stockings.
The dining room carried out
the Christmas theme with the
soft music of Christmas carols.
Home made fruit cake, pound
cake, nuts and candies were
served with the coffee. As the
guests approached the home
their eyes focused on the Whir
ly-bird with Santa Claus on
top of the house.
This decoration was designed
by Billy Shaw, who in the past
several years has won three
