Wesleyan Service Guild Meeting
The February meeting of the
Wesleyan Service Guild was
held Tuesday, February 6. at
the home of Mrs. Joe Haymore.
The co-hostesses were Miss
Carolyn Watson and Mrs.
Claude Jordan. The president,
Mrs. Mel Waggoner, opened ।
the meeting and welcomed this ;
visitors and the new members,
Mrs. T. A. Goins, Mrs. S. W. '
Randal and Miss Lucy Robin- 1
ion.
Mrs. Charlotte Johnson led I'
the group in prayer and Mrs.
Mae Pound led the singing of |
several songs. The devotional
was given by Mrs. Jean Aber
nathy following by silent pray
er for absent members. A solo .
“Sunrise”, was rendered by I
Mrs. Pound.
The speaker for the program
was Mrs. Author Cobb, who
was introduced by Mrs. Vashti
Christian. Mrs. Cobb gave an
interesting and inspiring lesson
on “What is the Word”? Mrs.
Glenn Jones led in prayer.
Mrs. Waggoner was in charge
of the business session during
which reports were read. Miss
Carolyn Osbourne gave the
report on Day Apart, an an
nual Guild day and the group
was reminded of World Day of

party given by Mr Pirkle at Buck
'N' Kid Restaurant, on Friday
evening, in observance of her

The Senior Tri-Hi-Y met
Wednesday, February 8 in
Room 16 as guests of the Gam
ma Tri-Hi-Y.
Joyce Hudspeth, president of
Gamma Tri-Hi-Y, called the
meeting to order.
Sandra Tuggle Millwood
presented a very inspiring de
votional. The program, “Clean
Speech”, was given by Sandra
Richardson.
The Sweet Heart Dance was
planned. It will be held at the
American Legion Home the 25th
from 8 to 11:30 p.m. Admission
will be 50c stag and SI.OO for
couples. It will be semi-for
mal.
The meeting was adjourned
with the members repeating
the benediction.

MYF Receives
A Citation
The North Covington MYF
attended the Newton - Rock
dale Sub - District at Salem
Methodist Church on February
6, where the North Covington
Intermediates received the at
tendance banner.
On February 12, the MYF
boys basketball team defeated
the First Methodist Church.
The North Covington girls
were defeated by the Salem
girls.

The regent announced Sun
day, February 12, was the
birthday of the Sergeant New
ton Chapter. The chapter be
ing organized on this date in
1905 and is one of the oldest
in the nation. The Atlanta
Chapter organized in 1891, be
