We have been using refer
ence books to learn what we
can about animals. Then we
tell what we have found out
and each one writes a story
about the animal. Here are
aome of the stories we wrote.
The Camels
Camels live on deserts where
the sand is dusty. Camels can
go without water for about two
or three days. Camels care on
ly for their babies. They feed
the babies Camel milk. Camels
can eat cactus and other kinds
of food. Their humps are not
really humps. They are pieces
of fat. When it comes up a
storm camels get down on their
knees. Camels have sharp
teeth.
By Dianne Garner.
Camels
Camels eat anything. Baby
camels are just like their moth
ers. Camels go a long time
without water. Their humps
are not bones, they are fat.
Their feet are flat. People ride
camels in the desert.

Monkeys
A monkey has a long tail.
He is like his mother. They eat
bananas, coconuts, potatoes,
hot dogs, buns, lettuce, birds
and insects. They live a long
time. They swing from tree to
tree. They like people.

live in the zoo and the jungle.
They can peel bananas by
themselves. Little monkeys are
like their mothers.

Deer
A baby deer has spots to
protect him. People who kill
deer are very mean. When

Sixth Grade
Hi. there! A lot has happen
ed since you last heard from
us.
Six weeks tests week were
last week. We really had to
study. Our poor little brains
almost didn’t pull through, but
we managed somehow.
On February 8. we had a
chapel program for the whole
school. We had two one-act
plays, “The Left Over Valen
tines”. by Bonnie Knight and
“The Troubador Prince”. We al
so sang a Valentine eong,
“Send He a Red Heart”.
Our grade mothers gave us
a delightful Valentine party.
We had red and white cup
cakes, red punch and lots of
Valentine candy.
Last month we gave a sur
prise birthday party for Mrs
Thompson. It was so much fun.
Our PTA purchased a ter
rarium for us. We have a frog
named Freckles, a lizard nam
ed Bozo, and a salamander,
“Big Shorty”. We are enjoying
our terrarium very much,
along with our other acience
equipment.

United States average farm
egg prices during January
through March 1961 are ex
pected to be around 35 cents,
a poultry survey committee re
port says. April through June
prices are expected to average
31 cents, or about two cents
below a year earlier. Third
quarter prices are expected to
be 33 cents a dozen—also about
two cents under those of July
through September 1960.
DURABLE PAINTS
There is more to the popu
larity of those modern dark I
p a iw*« than richness of color.
According to the Southern
Pine Association, an even
more impelling factor for their
use is greater durability. Pro
perly applied to Southern Pine
siding, a good dark colored
paint should last nearly a de
cade before a repaint job is re
quired. Grading standards for
this species require proper dry
ing of the lumber which fur
ther increases paint retention,
