and all acts and things neces
sary, convenient, expedient, an
cillary or in aid to the accom
plishment of the foregoing, to
deal with all types and kinds
of contracts and policies of in
surance, to act as agents for
others in the sale of insurance
policies, to act as insurance
brokers, and generally to deal
with insurance contracts and
policies of all kinds and des
criptions in every proper and
legitimate manner according to
the usages and customs of the
business, to buy and sell pro
missory notes and other con
tracts at discount, to negotiate
such notes, to lend and borrow
money, and to do any and all .

that by-laws of the corporation
shall be adopted by the com
mon stock holders, and such
by-laws shall provide for the
officers of the corporation, the
manner of their selection, and
such other rules appropriate to
by-laws which have as their
purpose the control and man
agement of the corporation, in
cluding provisions whereby the
by-laws may be amended.

ELECTION
TO THE QUALIFIED VOTERS
OF NEWTON COUNTY,
GEORGIA
YOU ARE HEREBY NOTI
FIED that on the 17th day of
May, 1961, an election will be
held in said County, at which
election there will be submit
ted to the qualified voters
thereof for their determination
the question of whether or not
bonds in the aggregate princi
pal amount of $200,000 shall be
issued by Newton County
School District for the purpose
of providing funds to acquire,
build and equip school build
ings and facilities useful in
connection therewith, to add
to. improve and repair existing
educational facilities of the
Newton County School System,
to acquire the necessary pro
perty therefor, both real and!
personal, and to pay expenses
incident to accomplishing the
foregoing, all bonds are to be
dated as of July 1, 1961, to be
in the denomination of SI,OOO
each, numbered consecutively
from 1 upward to 200, inclu
sive, in order of maturity, to
bear interest from date at such
rate or rates not exceeding three
and one-half (3% percent) per
annum in any year, all interest
payable February 1,1962 and
semi - annually thereafter on
the Ist days of February and
August in each year and the
principal to mature on the Ist
day of February, lowest num
bers first, in the years and
amounts, as follows:
$12,000 in each of the years
1962 and 1963,
$13,000 in the year 1964,
$14,000 in the year 1965,
$15,000 in the year 1966,
$17,000 in the year 1967,
SIB,OOO in the year 1968,
$19,000 in the year 1969,
$30,000 in each of the years
1970 and 1971,

The principal of and interest
on said bonds shall be payable
in lawful money of the United
States of America at a bank or
banks to be designated later.
Those desiring to vote for
the issuance of said School
Bonds for the aforesaid pur
pose shall do so by casting
their ballots having written or
printed thereon the words:
“FOR $200,000 NEWTON
COUNTY SCHOOL DISTRICT
BONDS”, and those desiring to
vote against the issuance of said
School Bonds for the aforesaid
purpose shall do so by casting
their ballots having written or
printed thereon the words:
“AGAINST $200,000 NEWTON
COUNTY SCHOOL DISTRICT
BONDS”.
The several places for hold
ing said election shall be at the
regular and established voting
precincts of Newton County,
Georgia, and the polls will be
open from 7:00 o’clock A. M. to
7:00 o’clock P. M., Eastern
Standard Time, on the day fix
j ed for the election.
All persons qualified to vote
in general elections and only
those registered and qualified
to vote in general elections will
be allowed to vote in this elec
tion.
This notice is given pursuant
to a resolution of the Newton
County Board of Education,
adopted on the 4th day of April,
1961.

Petitioners desire for them
selves, their associates, succes

“JEWELL SIGNS SERVICE,

for a period of thirty-five (35)
years, with full right of re
newal as may be provided by

County, Georgia, with the pri

The maximum number of
shares of stock shall be Fifty
Thousand (50.000). all of which

However, the amount of
capital with which the corpor
ation shall begin business shall;
be not less than Two Hundred
($200.00) Dollars. The corpo
ration shall be authorized to is
sue additional shares, up to
the maximum number above
stated, and thereafter, from
time to time, to reduce the
amount of capital outstanding,
but not below the minimum
provided by law; and all of
this upon a majority vote of the
Board of Directors.
6.
The stockholders of the cor
poration shall adopt such by
laws, not inconsistent herewith
or the laws applicable hereto,
as may be deemed appropriate
for the control and manage
ment of the corporation.
7.
Petitioners herewith exhibit
a certificate of the Secretary
of the State of Georgia as re
quired by Section 22- 1803,
Georgia Code Annotated.

week of April 16-22. The slo

Emory-at-Oxford’s observance
of National Library Week, Mrs.
Virgil Eady was the guest
speaker at a chapel assembly
on Monday, April 17. She was
introduced by Dr. J. Hamby
Barton, Jr., academic assistant.
Her subject was “Residents of
the Old President’s Home and
Books Written by Them.”
Books concerning the lives
of some of these residents of
the President’s Home were on
display in the Emory-at-Ox
ford Library along with maga
zine articles written by Emory
at-Oxford professors of the
present and immediate past.
In addition to the Emory-at-
Oxford book collection, the
Emory-at-Oxford Library has
a large deposit of books from
the Decatur-DeKalb-Rockdale-
Newton Regional Library. This
deposit of books is selected by
