evening before she entered the hos
pital. Many prayers are being of
fered for the recovery of this
little girl.
The baptizing of 42 candidates
of Canaan Baptist Church will
take place at Snapping Shoals on
Sunday afternoon, May 14 at two
thirty if weather permits. But if
it is too cool or the water too
muddy, then it will take place at
the same date and hour at Porter
dale Baptist Church.

Improvement
Program Set
The annual rural mail box
improvement program—to as
sist the Postal Service in pro
viding more efficient delive
ries and to stimulate efforts to
improve the appearance of he
countryside—will be held May
15 to 20, the Post Office De
partment announced today.
The program is to en
age patrons to provide suitable
mail receptacles erected and
maintained for easy and safe
accessibility, presenting a neat

listed these suggestions for I
rural mail box improvement:
Boxes that are not properly
erected, or not maintained in
good serviceable condition re
tard the delivery of mail and
expose it to the weather.
Boxes which are no longer
serviceable should be replaced.
Name of box owner should
be inscribed on the side of the
bov visible to the carrier as he
approaches, or on the door if
boxes are grouped.
Boxes and supports should
be kept painted preferably
white, but colors may be used.
Mail boxes on rural and star
routes must be located on the
right side of the road in the
direction of travel of the car
riers.
