Porterdale Baptist Circle Meeting
Held At Home Os Mrs. Ruby Allen
The L. M. Lyda Circle of the
Porterdale Baptist Church met
Monday morning, July 3, at
the home of Mrs. Ruby Allen
with five members present.
Mrs. Kate Moore opened the
meeting with prayer. Mrs.
Ruby Allen introduced the
program, “To Millions Dying
in Their Sin”, and read scrip
ture verses found in Matthew,
Ist Corinthians, James and
Romans, after which Miss
Sadie Polson led in prayer
Each member took part in pre
senting the program which was
a very interesting account of
the Baptist Rescue Missions lo
cated in New Orleans, Mem
phis, East St. Louis, Oklahoma
City and Fort Worth.

terdale Hotel on Thursday
evening, June 29, at seven
o’clock. Guests assembled in
the spacious lobby beautified
with summer flowers and lush
philodendron plants in oaken
bucket planters. The dining
room where places were set
for the twenty - nine atten
dants had a long table over
laid with white linen and de
corated with summer flowers
flanked by silver candelabra.

ers were at right angles to the
larger one.

Salem WSCS Meeting On Wednesday
Mrs. Hoyt Bailey was hostess
on Wednesday, July 5, when
the members of Salem WSCS
met at her home. Twelve la
dies answered the roll call with
Bible verses. The minutes of the
June meeting were read and
approved. The treasurer’s re
port showed the society to be in
good financial condition f p r
the beginning of a new confer
ence year.

presided and opened the meet
ing with a word of thanks to!
the hostess for her hospitality
and a word of welcome to each
member present.
The opening song “O For A
Thousand Tongues”, was sung
and the opening prayer given
by Mrs. G. W. Ramsey. Mrs.
Wayne Fears brought an inspir
ing devotional, using as her
scriptural background John 1:1-
19. The theme for the devo
tional and program was, “God’s
Word and Our Words”. Mrs.
Ramsey, program chairman,
was assisted by Mrs. Slade El
lington and Miss Ruth Loyd.
Mrs. Burns and Mrs. Ramsey
gave short reports on t h e।

cently held and which they had
attended.
The August meeting will be
i held on the first Wednesday in
August, or August 2. The place
will be announced later.
Mrs. Ramsey closed the meet
ing with prayer.
