Mask Birthday Dinner Was Gala
Occasion For Family Members
The Annual Mask Birthday
Dinner was held Sunday, Sep
tember 17 at the home of Mr.
and Mrs. A. B. Mask, Route
One, Covington. The occasion
was in celebration of Mr. A.
B. Mask, birthday and several
other members of the family.
At the noon hour a picnic
lunch was spread on the tables
underneath the large oak trees
in the backyard of the Mask
home. Rev. Jim Stallings, pas
tor of the Stewart Baptist
Church, gave the invocation.

to a “hamburger” supper, but
they sat down to a complete
dinner of vegetables, steak
loaves, salad, hot rolls, coffee,
fruit, two varieties of cake
baked by Mrs. Lester, nuts and
after dinner mints. Rev. Les
ter proved to be a “Master of
the Outdoor Grill”, as he cook
ed the meat to a queen’s taste.

silver candelabra holding glow
ing pink tapers. The large crys
tal bowl from which Mrs. Ber
to Skinner served punch, was
base garlanded with ivy inter
spersed with pink rosebuds.

sandwiches, and white emboss
ed petits fours topped with pink
rosebuds: and silver compotes
of toasted nuts and homemade
confections, completed the ta-i

Mrs. Jones, who wore an
aqua cotton sheath with white
trim, was presentéd with a
bevy of useful and attractive
gifts, heaped upon gilded “gift
| cart” wheeled in by the hos
| tess.

Pittman Circle into her home
on Monday, September 11, at
seven - thirty o’clock. Five
members and two visitors were
present. Mrs. Jeanette Clegg
joined this circle.
Mrs. Travis Johnson, Chair
man, presided over the busi
ness session. Plans were made
to remember a shut-in.

The Corrie Wright Circle of
the First Methodist Church met

The meeting was opened with
prayer by Mrs. C. D. Ramsey,
Jr., the Chairman. Miss Lucy
Banks brought an inspiring dz
votional. She asked that we be

ber 29th. She asked us to try to|

Al Fresco Dinner Fetes Mrs. Jones,
Mr. Sharp On Wednesday Evening
Mrs. Ruby Rae Jones and
fiance, Homer Sharp, Jr. were
central figures on Wednesday
evening, at another of the de
lightful pre-nuptial events at
which they are currently be
ing feted. Mr. and Mrs. Joe
Haymore and Mr. and Mrs.
Ernest Mann were joint hosts
at the formers’ home for the
al fresco dinner, which assem
bled a group of the betrothed
couple’s friends.
Patio torches were used at
vantage points on the spacious
lawn, which formed the oc
casion’s setting. The buffet ta
ble, covered with white linen,
featured a centerpiece of yel
low into bronze marigolds and
galardia in a copper container.
Small tables for seating guests,
were also overlaid with white
linen, and were centered with
small hurricane lamps in which
yellow tapers burned.
| Piped hi-fi recordings were
'enjoyed during the dinner
hour, and contributed to the
evening's festivity.
