“HE COVINGTON NEWS
000 patients at Milledgeville |
It was first proposed a year
or so ago by Mrs. Vandiver and
the churches of Georgia to be
built with contributions, rather
than with state funds, because
the churches felt it was their
responsibility to add this vital
functicn to the operation of the
State Hospital. |
Many of the churches and a
large number of individuals
have already contributed gen
erously to this program, but
even so it is still $600,000 shy
of the SBOO,OOO needed to meet
the cost of construction and to'
establish the chaplaincy pro
gram. |
Therefore, Mrs. Vandiver, as
Chairman of the Chapel Cam
paign Committee; Mr. Sibley,
Chairman of the Sterring Com
mittee, and the group of pro
minent Georgians of all faiths,
who are serving as volunteer
members of these two com
mittees, are launching imme
diately a concerted state - wide
