JARRETT MANOR, near Toccoa, Georgia, probably the oldest
building still standing in North Georgia, has been prominent in Indian,
Revolutionary and Civil War history. Originally known as Traveler’s
Rest, Jarrett Manor has played various rolls, as frontier fort, stage
coach inn, scene of an Indian battle, early post office and a hospitable
plantation home. It is now operated as a house museum by the Georgia
Historical Commission.

IS BACKACHE KIDNEY TROUBLE?
. By Dr. H. E. Collier
with. A man, aged 30, consulted a local scientific chiropractor
recently about a backache he had experienced four years.
Thorough Chiropractic examination revealed decided curvature
of the spine, pinching vital nerves in lower back, which was
basic cause of pain.
The spine was straightened b ypainless Chiropractic ad
justments. Patient notiged relief the second day and at the
end of 8 weeks patient was dismissed with all backache gone.
Remember that few backaches are caused by Kidney but
are basically caused by misplaced spinal joints and your Chiro

Many people have the idea that back
ache is caused by a kidney ailment and
they take something to purge the kidney
but many times the backache is persistent
even after such measures are taken. In
reality very few backaches are caused by
the kidneys for only in rare kidney diseas
es is there any pain whatever in the back.
Pain or backache between the hips and
lower part of the back is caused by a mis

Keep up-to-date on facts

Christmas Trees
"
Around the World
By Charles E. Hooper
Fish, birds, gaily colored eggs,
straw and candles! They all
have something in common:
They are decorations used for
Christmas trees in various parts
of the world. At the Atlanta
Art Association Building, Grand
Gallery, thousands of Geor
gians have delighted at the au
thentically decorated Christ
mas trees from Spain, England,
Japan, Old Russia, Lithuania,
Poland, Switzerland, Germany,
Austria, Greece. Italy and of
course the United States.
Actually some countries do
not use Christmas trees. In
every Spanish home a manger
scene is the center of the
Christmas Celebration. In Italy,
instead of a tree, some Italian
families decorate a “Ceppo”
with shelves displaying gifts,
beautiful objects and nativity
scenes. And on Christmas Eve
in Greece, boys and girls gath
-ler to sing carols accompanied
by the beating of small drums
'and steel triangles in front of
4 Nativity scene, and after
wards they enjoy cakes and
freshly baked bread.
However, Christmas trees
are in great use in other coun
ltries throughout the world. In
Japan the tree is small and
decorated with miniature fans
and dolls. Baked and iced cook
ies figures, long rows of bells,
and natural candles character
ize the decorations used on an
Austrian Christmas tree. Twist
ed straw and woven colored
string are used in the decora
tion of the tree from Lithuania.
Beautiful fish and birds made
from boiled eggs along with
gold and silver colored paper
hoops highlight the tree from
Poland. Natural fruits, bread
and candles decorate the Christ
mas tree from Switzerland. The
huge bells and angels on the
tree from England, the silver
and gold colors used primarily
in the tree depicting Old Rus
sia, as well as the colored pa
per cut outs of stars on the
German Christmas tree-all em
phasize the glad spirit of this
season. Everyone, of course, is
delighted at the Fantasyland
tree and a trip to the Art As
sociation Building in Atlanta
will prove most interesting and
rewarding. |
No matter what type of tree
we have or how we decorate
it, may the first gift we open
this Christmas be that of the
joyful world of the spirit . .
of the mind and of the heart!
and of the soul .. . . withou!
which mere things can have
neither beauty, nor meaning,
nor value. The Christmas Trees
Around the World Exhibit is
dedicated to The Spirit of the
Season, The Faith deep within
us, Remembrance of those we
love, and the illumined Hope
for Goodwill and Pease in the
Hearts of all men everywhere
