FHA Funds
Now Released
Georgia Farm Bureau Presi
dent Harry L. Brown today
was advised that SSO million
in Farmera Home Administra
tion funds had been released
Senator Richard B. Russell
disclosed that the Bureau of
Budget had approved release
of the contingency funds pro
vided by the Subcommittee on
Agricultural Appropriations.
The Georgia Farm Bureau
Federation had earlier request
ed the aid of Senator Russell
and Senator Herman Talmadge
in obtaining Bureau of Bud
get release of the contingency
funds provided earlier by the
Subcommittee on Agricultural
Appropriations to the Farmers
Home Administration.
The almost 40,000 farm fam
ily members federation express
ed appreciation to Senators
Russell and Talmadge for their
prompt action.
Georgia Farm Bureau Fed
eration President Brown ex
pressed a hope the action will
alleviate a situation faced by
many farmers in Georgia who
are eligible for FHA operation
loans in 1962.
Southern Pine Facto
With 1962 at hand, here are
some Southern Pine statistics
for the year now being ushered
out:
Estimated 1961 output of
Southern Pine lumber — near
ly 7 billion board feet—enough
to frame nearly one million
homes.
Number of “tree farms” —
nearly 40 million acres in the
12 state producing territory.
This represents more than two
thirds of the nation’s total “tree
farm” acreage.
Your Social Security number
is important in filing your
Federal income tax return.
