Miss Evangeline Spann and Lt. Bohannon
Wed at Ceremony in Los Angeles, Calif.
The marriage of Miss Evan
geline Spann to Lt. Donald Bo
hannon, both of Los Angeles,
was quietly solemnized at three
o’clock Sunday afternoon, Feb
ruary 25, at Westchester Meth
odist Church in Los Angeles.
The double ring ceremony was
performed by Dr. Robert A.
Kersey in the presence of t h e
families and a few close friends.
The bride is the daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. Oliver Spann, of
this city and Lt. Bohannon is
the son of Mr. and Mrs. E. L.
Bohannon, of Covington Ga.
Three large baskets, contain
ing fan-shaped arrangements
of white glads, roses and stock,
banked by greenery, formed the
effective decorations of t h e
church. As they exchanged
their vows the couple knelt on
a satin bench.
Nuptial music was presented
by.-Mrs. Kelley A. Carson, of
Los Angeles, organist. The tra
ditional wedding marches were
used.
Miss Patricia Spann served as
her sister’s maid-of-honor. She
was attired in a sheath dress of
turquoise silk linen, worn with
semi-fitted jacket with three
quarter sleeves and jewelry
neckline. She wore a whimsey
hat of black veiling and match
ing accessories. Her flowers

‘'were a bouquet of blush pink
roses, interspersed with ruffled
pink tulle.
The radiant bride was given
in marriage by her father and
Hans Schoenfliers, of Los An
geles, served as best man.
The bride’s beauty was em
phasized by her wedding attire.
She wore a white linen sheath
with jewel neckline, short
sleeves and semi-fitted bodice
accented by a small bow in
front. The sheath skirt was
overlaid with beige Alencon
lace which was appliqued in
points to the hip-line. She wore
a small circlet hat of white
linen with frothy veiling, white
shoes and bag. Her flowers were
a bridal bouquet of white ros
es, centered with a white or
chid, showered with sprays of
Dutch hyacinths, and for sen
timent she carried a handker
chief, loaned to her by Mrs.
Cliff Pantone and wore a blue
garter, & gift of her sister.
The bride’s mother chose for
the occasion a navy silk sheath,
accented oy blue crystal jew
elry, worn with small flower
ed hat and white gloves. A
white orchid complemented her
costume.
After the ceremony a recep
tion was held at The Isles
Apartments, Los Angeles. Ar-
rangements of white stock and
white roses formed the lovely
}decorations.
- The bride’'s book was kept
by Miss Jackie Hoag, of Santa
Monica, Calif.
The prettily appointed
bride’s table was overlaid with
an Italian cutwork cloth a n d
centered with a three-tiered
cake, topped with wedding bells
and encircled with lilies of the
valley and Maiden ilair fern.
Flanking each side were burn
ing tapers in crystal holders.
Later Lt. Bohannon and his
bride left on a wedding trip to
Santa Barbara and Carmel,
Calif. For traveling the bride
donned a full length white lin
en coat and wore the orchid
from her banquet. Following the
wedding trip the couple will re
side at 1620 E. Maple Street,
El Segundo, Calif., until’ No
vember when Lt. Bohannon is
to be released from active duty
and resume his work at East
man Kodak in Rochester, N. Y.
The bride’s mother is t h e
former Eva Martin, of Arling
ton.
The attractive bride is a gra
duate of Americus high school.
where she took a leading part
in school activities, and w a s
graduated from Emory Univer
sity in 1961. She is a member
of Alpha Delta Pi sorority and
is employed as a hostess with
Trans World Airlines. |
Lt. Bohannon was graduated‘
from Covington high school
and received a degree in In
dustrial Engineering from
Georgia Tech in 1960, where he
was a member of Alpha Tau
Omega social fraternity; Tau
Beta Pi, engineering scholas
tic honorary fraternity a n d
Alpha Pi Mu, national indus
trial engineering honorary fra
ternity.
At present Lt. Bohannon is

List at Furman
Named to the Dean’s List at
Furman University for the first
semester of the current school
yvear were 137 students, eight of
whom made all A’s. To be eli
gible for the Dean’s List, a stu
dent must have been register
ed for 12 or more semester
hours and have achieved a scho

From Housion, Texas, come
Mr. and Mrs. H. H. Boice, who
have recently arrived to make
their home at 208 Church St.
Mrs. Boice, a native of Chi
cago, names flower gardening,
reading, music and bridge as
favorite pastimes.
Mr. Boice, who also claims
the “Windy City” as his home=-
town, is assuming his duties
with Dodge Wire Corporation,
‘as personnel director. He shares
his wife enthusiasm for gard
ening, and in addition enjoys
football, other spectator sports
and bowling.
The Boices are finding a
warm welcome in the Metho
dist congregation of which they
are members, as well as in the
community life of Newton
i County.

Presented a
Chapel Program
The Covington Future Home
makers of America met Feb
ruary 28, in Mrs. J. D. Mec-
Kinsey’s home economics de
partment. Ann Patrick called
the meeting to order. Day Mor
cock read the minutes and
called the roll.
Joyce Hudspeth gave the de
votional on “The Ten Com
mandments of How to Get
Along With Others”. She read
a poem “Don’'t Envy Other
Folks”, and ended the devo
tional with a prayer.
The first period freshman
‘home economics class present
ed a program over the radio on
'Monday, February 18.
It was announced that our
Spring District meeting will be
held March 31, at the West
Georgia College in Carrollton.
On March 2, members of the
Covington FHA presented the
chapel program. This talent
show was given by a majority
of freshmen but with some oth
er members. Qur program was
entitled “Careers in Homemak
ing”. These girls participated:

for us. Then some favorite FHA
songs were sung by all.

Atlanta Tour
Dr. Joe Specht and forty -
three business administration
students of The Woman’s Col
lege of Georgia Milledgeville,
went on a field frip to Atlanta
recently. They visited Foote &
Davies, the Georgia Power
Building, and Merrill Lynch,
Pierce, Fenner & Smith, Inc.
Girls making the trip in
cluded Sandra Harwell of
Mansfield and Patricia Gilbert
of Rutledge.

To Robert Patterson is Announced
Mr. and Mrs. Edward Jacob
Hertwig announce the engage
ment of their daughter, Mer
ritt Bell Hertwig, to Robert
Augustus Patterson, son of Mr,
and Mrs. Robert Cullen Ed
wards of Macon.
The bride elect is a graduate
of Newton County High School,
Emory at Oxford, and is cur
rently a junior at Emory Uni
versity.
Mr. Patterson, son of t h e
late Hugh Patterson of Macon,
was graduated from Lanier
High School, Macon; Gordon
Military College, and is now
attending Georgia State College
in Atlanta.
The wedding date has been
set for March 17, at Vineville
Presbyterian Church in Macon.
First Methodist WSCS Hears Talk

church, Mrs. Ben Banks, Presi- !
dent, presided. |
The meeting began with a
musical prelude by Mrs. H. O.
Whelchel, pianist, followed by
group singing of the hymn, “O
Master, Let Me Walk With
Thee”. Mrs. Homer Sharp gave
the opening prayer. |
The inspiring devotional was
given by Mrs. Zed Steele, who
used scripture from the fifth
chapter of Mark and concluded
with a poem and a prayer. The
president made the announce
ments and stressed the impor
tance of good attendance at the
School of Missions now in pro=-
gress at the church.
Mrs. Banks stated that a
combined meeting of all the
circles is planned for Monday,
April 16. This is to be held in
the main sanctuary of the
church, Mrs. Arthur Styron, a
very outstanding speaker, will
have charge of the program
and will conduct the pledge
service.
Miss Lucy Banks, vice-presi=-
dent, announced that the World
Day of Prayer service is to be
held Friday, March 9, at 3:30
p.m. at the Allen Memorial
Church in Oxford.

sented Mrs. H. H. Dillard, wife
of the pastor of the Julia A.
Porter Memorial Methodist
Mr. and Mrs. Jack Bolton
have returned to their home in
Coningham, Pennsylvania, af
ter spending the past month
with their mother, Mrs. L. D.
Bolton at the Burge Plantation
near Newborn. Jack Bolton, Jr.,
formerly of Norwalk, Connecti
cut, who is presently making
his home in Atlanta, was also
a recent guest of Mrs. Bolton.

world added greatly to the in
terest in her splendid program.
