Miss Billie Joan Davis Becomes
Bride of Mr. Eugene Lee McCord
First Methodist Church in
Dalton formed a setting Sun
day, March 18 at 3 o’clock in
the afternoon for the wedding
of Miss Billie Joan Davis and
Eugene Lee McCord. The Rev.
J. Walker Chidsey was the of
ficiating minister.
The bride is the daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. Albert H. Davis,
and Mr. and Mrs. Jess L. Mc-
Cord of Covington are parents
of the groom.
A program of nuptial music
was furnished by Mrs. J. K.
Bassett, organist. She accom
panied Arvil Moffitt as he sang
“Because” and “One Hand, One
Heart.”
Vows were exchanged before
a background of palm ferns and
other greenery, highlighted
with lighted tapers, completed
with a white prie dieu.
Entering the church on the
arm of her father, the bride
was attired in a gown of re
embroidered Alencon lace and
taffeta. The fitted bodice was
enhanced with a tiny scollop
ed stand-up collar, hand em
broidered with seed pearls and
borealis beads complemented
the bodice. The angelmist taf
feta skirt featuring silhouette
lines was designed with soft
pleats at the hipline which
tapered into the fullness of a
Princess train. Her Coronet
crown held her fingertip veil
of illusion, and she carried yel
low rosebuds with stephanotis,
centered with a white orchid.
Miss Marie Dingier was the
bride’s maid of honor. Brides
maids were Misses Jane King,
June Pollard, Beverly Coffee,
Gail Barton. Anne Brake,
Elaine McCord and Mary Ellen
Parson. The bridal attendants
were alike in gowns of orchid

matching peau de soie with
which she wore matching ac
cessories and a white orchid
corsage.
The groom’s mother, Mrs.
McCord, was attired in baby
blue lace over matching peau
de soie with white accessories
and white orchid corsage.
Following the ceremony, the
couple was entertained with a
reception at the church. The
bride’s table was overlaid with
satin and tulle arranged in
three tiers and accented with
nosegays carrying out a yellow
and white color scheme. Green
ery encircled the punch bowls
and the decorated cake. The
yellow and white motif was re
peated in decorating through
out the reception room.
