Salem Home Demonstration Club
Met Thursday in Monthly Meeting
On May 10, the Salem Home!
Demonstration Club held its
monthly meeting at the Club
house, with 15 members and two
visitors present The visitors,
were Mrs. J. T Jaynes and
Mrs. C. H. Berry.
The meeting was called to ।
order by the president, Mrs.
Douglas Yancey. The new dem
onstration agent, Mrs. Sara j
Groves, was welcomed.

field, became the bride of An
thony D. Ozburn, son of Mrs.
Albert Ozburn and the late Mr.
Ozburn, at an impressive can
dlelight ceremony Saturday af
ternoon, May 12, at the Pine
Grove Presbyterian Church.
Rev. David Daniel, pastor, of
ficiated at the double ring
ceremony.
The altar was banked with
fern and wrought iron cathe
dral candelabra holding burn
ing white tapers. Centering the
altar was a large white basket I
containing white gladiolus and
chrysanthemums. Alvin Whis- |
nante, brother of the bride,
lighted the candles.
John Farmer rendered a pro
gram of prenuptial and tradi
tional wedding music during
the impressive ceremony.
Ronald Leach, cousin of the
groom, served as best man with
ushers being Reuben Whisnante
and Grant Ozburn.
Miss Jean Norman of Perry,
maid of honor, wore a beige

ture veil and her flowers were

rose buds with white satin

ral of pure silk with white
accessories. She wore a cor
sage of white carnations.

a white carnation corsage.
After a wedding trip to
j Florida the young couple will

Moore-Walker Wedding Vows Were
Spoken at Porterdale Church Rites

service performed at the Julia
A. Porter Memorial Methodist
Church in Porterdale, on Sat
: urday morning, May 5. The
double ring service was per
formed by Rev. H. H. Dillard in
the presence of the immediate
families and close friends.
The altar before which the
couple took their wedding vows
was banked with baskets of
i white gladiolus and mums.
Mrs. Jacquline Farr, organist,
presented a program of nuptial
music consisting of, “Melody of
Love", “Because”, “I Love You
Truly”, and Mendelssohn's
' “Wedding March".
Salem Woman's Society of Christian
Service Held May Meeting at Church
An interesting meeting of
Salem Woman's Society of
j Christian Service was held on
' May 2 when that group gath
ered in the Sanctuary of Sa
lem Methodist Church. It be
i ing pledge month for the 1962-
63 conference year each mem
ber knelt at the altar as she
placed her pledge card on the
I altar.
Officers for the 1962-63
year were elected with very
few changes, each officer nom
inated accepted the post given
very graciously and the Wo
man’s Society of Christian
Service work at Salem seems
to be headed for a good year.
Mrs. Wayne Fears brought
the devotional using as the
subject “Rich Toward God”.
The opening song was “Oh,
For a Thousand Tongues”. The
opening prayer was led by
Rosie Robertson, the daughter
of Mrs. Douglas Robertson.

Mrs. Harry Moore, sister-in
law of the bride, as matron of
honor and the bride’s only at
tendant, was gowned in an
aqua chiffon with matching
head piece. She carried a nose
gay of pink roses and stream
ers.
The bride, given in marriage
by her brother, Ray Moore, was
lovely in a white lace, street
length wedding dress fashioned
with an empire waist line and
short bolero. Her short veil
was attached to a tiara and she
carried a wedding bouquet cen
tered with a white orchid and
tied with satin streamers.
After a short wedding trip
they will be at home at 313
West Virginia Ave., College
Park.
There were nine members
present. Mrs. Manson Miller,
Rosie and Susan Robertson
were welcomed as visitors.
Minutes of the April meeting
were read and approved. A
treasurers report was given,
reports were called for from
each chairman.
The program under the same
theme as the devotional was
brought by Mrs. G. W. Ramsey
assisted by Mrs. Douglas Rob
ertson, who gave a reading en
titled "Abundant Living". Miss
Ruth Loyd's reading was
“Sharing Material Blessings”
and Mrs. W. C. Bates had the
last reading which was "Grat
itude for Blessings”.
Mrs. Ramsey gave a report
on the Lenten Service at the
First Methodist Church at
Covington. Other items of
business was the sending of one
MYF member to Camp Glisson.
The president urged those who
could to attend East Lake Wo
man's Society of Christian Ser
vice meeting on May 22. Also
the reading of correspondence
relative to the National Wo
man's Society’ of Christian
Service meeting in Atlantic
City. New Jersey in the near
future.
For the social hour the group
assembled in the church par
lor where Rosie and Susan
Robertson served delicious ice
cram pies.

The tables were overlaid with
white cloths with a color scheme
of pink and white carried out in
the decorations. A miniature
bride and groom with an ar
rangement of pink and white
gladiolus, mums, carnations and
baby breath centered the table.

top score and bingo prize.
