School Days
School days, school days,
Dear old golden rule days.
Reading and writing and arith
metic,
Taught to the tune of a hic
kory stick.
You were my girl in calico,
I was your bashful beau.
You wrote on my slate, “I love
you, Joe”,
When we were a couple of
kids.
To date we have three with
perfect attendance, Barry Lane,
Sammy Patrick and Miriam
Tanksley.
Everyone is busy attempting
to complete our work but it is
too hot to concentrate.
We want to thank Mrs. Heard
for the ice she sent. We shared
with other grades. Anyone else
wish to donate ice in the after
noons? We’ll be happy to see
you and the ice.
We want to thank all the
friends in Ficquett School for
the many courtesies extended.
We appreciate all you do for
us. Call on us any time.

I like school. We write and
read and we spell.
Every morning we read the
Bible. This morning Martha
Cain had our devotional. She
read a Psalm, all repeating.
“Evening Prayer”. Each day
one leads our devotional. At
10:30 we go out to recess,
sometimes I play pitch, or
swing on the rope.
