must surely feel better this morn- ’
tng after so much nice rain on
Friday and we know for sure
that, gardens, lawns, shrubs, pas
turcs (and those who have farms)
not many around Salem- -are all
looking better since such a refresh
ing rain.

Mr. and Mrs. G. W. Ramsey
went to Conyers on Sunday where
they were the luncheon guests
of Mr. and Mrs. Jack McCol

Mr. and Mrs. Douglas Yancey
went to Atlanta on Sunday
where they were luncheon guests
of Mr. and Mrs. John Merritt and
' son, Douglas Merritt.
Mrs. George Kueopple of Miami,
Fla. spent last week with her sis
ter, Mrs. Slade Ellington. Mr. and
Mrs. Dudley Myrick and son,
PhJ, of Marietta and Chris Elling
ton of Savannah were ail dinner
guests of the Ellingtons on Sun
day at Welaunee Hotel, Porter
dale. This group was Joined by
other relatives at t he Floyd Pace
lodge at Lake Sinclair for a
visit with Mrs. Kueopple before
her flight ba e k to Miami.
Miss Mary Alice Miller spent
Saturday night with Mr. and
Mrs Clark Hawk and Carroll
Hawk at Porterdale.
Among the hospital sick this
week is Mrs. Gibson Holifield at
DeKalb General in Decatur and
Will Branahan at Newton.
Morris Allen has returned home
from Georgia Baptist. Mrs. L. W.
Miller of McDonough, the mother
of Manson and T. J. Miller of our
community is a patient at New
ton Hospital and to each one we
send special greetings and wishes
for a speedy recovery.
Mrs. Vallie Chambers and Miss
Leitha Cowan who have both been
reported ill in this column are im
proved to the delight of their
friends. Miss Cowan is still con
fined to Newton Hospital.
Miss Carole Bryant was the
recepient of many beautiful and
useful gifts on Saturday night at
the home of Mrs. Jeff Autry when
a group of her friends and rela
tives presented her a miscellan
eous shower.
Mrs. Joel Bums and sons,
Darrel and Dennis of Decatur
spent last Tuesday with her
parents, the 0. E. Whites.
Mrs. Herbert Cook and daugh
ters, Sherry and Beth are he r e
from Atlanta for a weeks visit
with her parents, the G. W. Ram
seys.
Misses Dana Sue Kemp and
Vickie McGibboney are at Camp
Glisson this week. Miss Kemp
attended the M. Y. F. Presidents
Council held there last week.
Aaron Kemp attended the fun
eral of an uncle in Bowden, Sun
day.
Troy Kemp and his family
moved to Carrollton last week for
future residence. We were sorry
to know they were leaving Salem
but wish them much happiness

Marvin Allums of Covington
visited the Hoyt Baileys on Sun
day afternoon.
The guests of Mr. and Mrs.
Clifford Savage for the past sev
eral days have been Misses Janie
Savage, Susan Lumsden and
Sieve Mason all of Macon a n d on
July 4 and 5 their guests were
Commander and Mrs. Ray Kos
ter and son, Greg of North Palm
Beach, Fla.
Mr. and Mrs. Savage with
Mr. and Mrs. Hubert Grier
went to Atlanta last Saturday
where they enjoyed dinner an d
show going by Georgia Baptist to
visit Morris Allen.
Mr. and Mrs. A. L. Hargrove
were hosts on Sunday afternoon
to the Catholic Church when
that group met at their home for
a picnic. A picnic dinner was
served on the lawn of "Old Hun
dred” as the guests spread a
lunch beneath the cedars. The

Cauadys and their guest Mrs.

Weren't the showers fine for
everyone, and the poor starved
vegetation. Know all feel bet
ter.
Attendance for church ser
vices were good. We had several
visitors and am sure a blessing
was received by all. Visitors are
always welcome.
Sorry to say we have several
snut-ins to whom we send best
wisnes for your complete recovery.
Friends of Jimmy Martin will
be glad to know he is recuperating
nicely at Newton County Hospital
after being in a wreck near Con
yers.
