Turkey in the Good
Old Summertime
Have you ever thought of
serving turkey in the summer?
With plenty of turkeys in cold
storage and more coming off
Georgia farms, turkey u one of
the best meat buys this sum
mer.
Look for turkeys from four
to twenty-four pounds in size
and also by the piece when you
visit your favorite meat coun
ter.
There are as many ways to
serve this delicious meat a>
wavs to buy it.
Have you ever tasted bar
becued turkey? If you haven’t
try one. You may choose the
size that suits the occasion, one
as small as four pounds or one
as large as 24. Allow one-half
pound raw turkey per serving.
If you select a large bird,
cut it into pieces and marinate
for several hours before barbe
cuing. Use your favorite sauce
or marinade.
You may serve the barbecu
ed turkey either hot or cold at
a picnic, patio party or a buf
fet meal.
Cook a big turkey to have
on hand for. cold cuts, salads
and sandwiches. This is one
way you can cut down on long
hours in the kitchen.
As a hearty pick-up for en
tertaining or just a summer
treat for your family, get va
riety in your meals by includ
ing turkey as one source of the
high-quality protein needed
each day. j
