Solemnized at First Baptist Church
The wedding of Miss Gerry
Lvnn Lott and Robert Strange
was solemnized Friday even
ing, at the First Baptist Church,
in a ceremony marked with
simplicity and beauty. The
Rev. Edgar A. Callaway offici
ated in the double-ring nup
tials.
1 The vows were spoken be
fore an altar of seven branched
candelabra holding burning
white tapers, palms and emer
ald fern trees, centered with an
arrangement of white gladiolus
and chrysanthemums.
Mrs. Reuben Tuck, organist,
rendered a prelude program of
favorite wedding selections, in
cluding. “Song of Songs" by
Moye; “Ave Maria", by Gou
nod; “I Love You Truly" by
Bond: and aecam” mind M r «.
Hugh McDonald who sang,
“Entreat Me Not to Leave
Thee", by Gounod, “O, Perfect
Love", and Mendelssohn’s
“Wedding Prayer" as part of
the ceremony.
Serving as usher-groomsmen
were Mike Lott, brother of the
b .de, C. B. Ballew. Steve Day ■
arid Marion Savage. Tony Webb 1
was chosen as best man.
The bride, given in marriage i
by her father, w'ore a white,
slipper satin wedding gown,
with scooped neckline and el
bow length sleeves. The fitted
bodice was appliqued with
lace medallions. As her some
thing borrowed, the bride wore
the wedding veil worn by Mrs.
C B. Ballew in her recent wed
ding. and an heirloom hander
chief. She carried a white Bi
ble. upon which weie cluster
ed white pompon chrysanthe
mums, centered with a white
orchid, and showered with
white satin streamers.
Mrs. Larry Harris, matron of
honor and sister of the bride
chose an emerald giecn satin
dress, the clo e fitting neck
line of which dipped to low
lavaliere lines in the tack. The
bell shaped skirt was accented
with soft pleats at the waist,
and self material back bow.
She wore a matching halo veil;
and carried a spray of mam
moth chrysanthemums, shower
ed pompons and iv\ tendrils.

the North Covington Woman’s
Society of Christian Service
was held at the home of Mrs.
Calvin Bouchillon Sr.
The program was presented
by Mrs. Jerome Hamm. She
explained the Biblical founda
tions of missions, reexamining
the role of the church in mis
sions, obedience to the great
imperatives — go teach, go
preach, and by my witnesses —
furnish the most forceful rea
son for missions.

, attired in toast crepe, accented
with lace trim. She wore
matching accessories, and an
orchid corsage.
The church parlors formed
the setting for the reception
honoring the newly wed cou
ple, following the ceremony.

in violet peau de soie. kept th^
bride’s book, at a table cover
ed with white satin. White
gladiolus and butterfly chry
santhemums formed the cen
tral arrangement of the silver
! candelabra which held glowing
white tapers.
Refreshment tables were
• identically appointed. Covered
with white satin, with the over
lay of white net festooned with
nosegays of white gladiolus and
chrysanthemum florets and
ivy, they held the large punch
bowls and silver trays of dain
ty. wedding motif sandwiches.
The bride’s table held the tra
ditional, white embossed wed
ding cake, embellished with
spun sugar florets, and topoed
with a miniature bride and
groom.
Miss Hilda Biggers, cousin
of the bride, assisted in serving
the rake. She wore a champagne
brocade sheath. Others assist
■ ing in serving punch were
. Miss Cynthia Harris, who wore
I cloud yellow; Mrs. Steve Day,
wearing apricot taffeta; Miss
Gail Robinson, in champagne
I lace and chiffon; Miss Elizabeth

Miss Gerry Lott, bride
elect, was honored last Thurs
day night with a miscellaneous
given by Mrs. Fred Lott and
Mrs. Olin Costley, at the home
of Mrs. Lott.
Games and contests were en
joyed by the group prior to the
honoree opening her many
lovely and useful gifts.

The May Livingston Circle
of the First Baptist WMU met
Tuesday night September 4th,
at the home of Mrs. S. J. Har
lin.
The meeting was opened
with prayer by the Chairman,
Mrs. Ed Hunt, who then wel
comed the guest speaker, Mrs.
Clark Duipo, and ten members
present.

demy. was Mrs. Lee Ricketson
of Oak Ridge. Tenn. Mrs. Ric
ketson was the inspiration for
a number of informal social
gatherings during her Coving
ton visit. Among hostesses en

Mobley. Miss Julia Aiken. Miss
Ethel Belcher and Mrs. George

Covington Woman's Club Met Tuesday;
Committee Assignments Are Announced
, The first fall meeting of the
Covington Woman’s Club was
held at the Woman’s Club
house on Tuesday, September
4th, with an unusually large
attendance.
For the past year the Club
has been actively engaged in
disposing of the library books
and remodeling the building.
Gas heat has been installed,
rewiring, new plumbing and
painting has greatly improved
the building, and the club
members are quite pleased with
the results. It is hoped that
other clubs may see fit to use
this building.
Miss Leila Gardner installed
the officers for 1962-63. Mrs.
L. A. Patrick will continue as
president, with Mrs. L. C. Gib
son. Ist. V. President: Mrs. H.
F. Sharp, 2nd V. President;
Mrs. H. L. King. Recording Sec
retary; Mrs. R. W. Osborn.
Corresponding Secretary, Miss
Eva Gardner, Treasurer. Mrs.

The Club was gratified to
hear a complete treasurer’s
report showing that up to date
a total of $2,360.68 had been
spent on improvements to the
Clubhouse.
The president expressed her
sincere thanks to those mem
bers who had worked so faith
fully during the past year.

port from the 4th District Pres
idents’ Meeting, which was
held in Griffin on August 30th.
Miss Eva Gardner also attend
ed this meeting.
Mrs. R. W. Osborn gave a
i reoort on Club Institute held
recently at Emory-at-Ox "ord.
She also read a letter from
Mrs. Hay, state president,
thanking the Club for their
help in making the Institute
; such a success. The letter stated
I that the barbecue given by the
Chamber of Commerce added
over $300.00 to the Ida Hester

Tallulah Falls. The names of
Mrs. W. E. Thornley, Mrs. Sa
