that he would not bother her
unless she disturbed him, in
his own habitat. She held on to
her pole, and stopped reeling
for a fleeting second. Then he
stopped! There on the edge of
the bank right at her, he rais
ed his beautiful (?) head, and
as inquistive, as a young pup
py. sez she, he watched her
and would turn that head and
look toward her line. Finally,
with eyes on him, she slowly
reeled in her line. Mine would
have stayed right there and I
would have reeled myself back
to town where I belonged any
way. No Siree! She watched
him, and to assure him she did
not even see him she cast out
again! And she thought it the
sweetest (?) thing, that snake
like a little puppy running af
ter a ball or stick, made a run
to get whatever she threw out.
“Bless his little (or big) heart!
He’s lonely and just wants a
person to play with.” She kept
casting and he played with her
for a long time. Then suddenly,
as she reeled in, the worst
happened. He made a dive un

him, just as a big bass struck
her hook.“ Well”, thinks she. ,
“he was just waiting for me tn
catch a fish for him. . . and I
hope he does not follow that
fish out to catch him.” Yes sir
it was a big-one, and he was
hard to pull in. . . but ALAS!
When she got him up a n d
landed. . . whatter you think!
She had that great big four

his middle. . . and landed him
right at her feet. . . mad as a
feller can get! Whatter you
think she did! No, I don’t think
she tenderly caressed him (as
I she does when she talks about
j the harmless things, who won’t
bother you if you don’t
bother them.) She’s just too
sweet to make excuses, not only
for snakes of the woods and
waters, but for every evil ton
gue, with idle gossip etc. . . .
She always has some excuse to
clear anything or anybody of
anything they have done. . . ,
You will have to see her to see
if you can get the ending of
this story. All I know is, her
sparkling dancing blue eyes,
really betrayed me, if t h e y
show some real excitement
| bordering on to an experience
of a lifetime. All I know is that
she caught him again in h e r
dreams that night! Once would
have been enough for me. Well,
I haven’t felt like going fishing
i this year. . . and I don’t believe
| her last catch gives me the fe
i ver now.

Says . . .
Did you ever stop to consid
er the great “I ams” of thfe

The first time we hear thia
A* the name of God il when
God appeared to Mosea and
told him to go to Egypt to lib

what name he should use in
speaking of Him to the people,
and God said “Say unto the
children Os Israel I AM hath
sent me to you!”
This is a part of the verb
"to be” —Which requires a pre

As given to Mose* is repre

who promised to go with him
and guide him in that great
undertaking, but it did riot open
up to him the full meaning of
what God is.
Faith in the great “I AM”,
and obedience to Him, Moses in
his great undertaking, led
the people of God through the
experiences recorded in tnC old

for His Son, Jesus Christ, to
complete the revelation of the
great I AM to the children of
men. when “in the fullness of

Homer F. Sharp, Jr.
Assumes Duties at
LaGrange College
Th* teaching faculty of L*«
Grange College for the 1962-
83 academic year ha* been
completed with the addition of
a new professor in the Science
and Mathematics Division.
Homer F. Sharp Jr. of Cov
ington will be an assistant pro
fessor of biology, Dr. C. Lea
Harwell, dean of the college,
and Dr. John L. Shibley, chair
man of the Science and Math
ematics Division, announced to
day.
Sharp received his under
{raduate education at Emory
(niversity and earned a mas
ter’s degree at University of
Georgia. He graduated at
Newton County High School
and also studied at Emory-at-
Oxford.
The addition of Sharp—tha
third in two years—to the sci
ence faculty will enable tha
Methodist, co-educational col
lege to expand its curriculum
for students planning to enter
medical, dental or other health
professions, the officials said.
Student* planning for sci
ence careers in teaching or re
search may also take advantage
of the enlarged course offerings
“Professor Sharp's ipecial
interest is in the area es na
tural history, ecology, and field
biology,” Dr. Shibley said. “I
believe he Will be a valuable
addition to our faculty as he
helps Us broaden our science
program.”
Dr. Shibley, also a biologist,
thinks that students should
have their major subjects un
der more than one professor.
"Thi* will now be possible in
bioldgy at LaGrange, just as it
has been in chemistry,” he
added.
Sharp is a member of Alpha
Tau Omega fraternity. As a
Boy Scout, he gained the Eagle
rank. His parents, Mr. and Mrs.
H. F. Sharp Sr., live in Coving
ton where his father is princi
pal of Newton County High
School. Sharp is married to the
former Ruby Rae Davis of
Newborn and they have a pre
school-age child. They ar*
Methodists.
