Hunters Asked
To Use Caution
Near Phone Lines
With the hunting season un
derway, sportsmen and others
who might fire shotguns, rifles
or pistols in the country side
near aerial telephone equip
ment were asked today to be
careful of communication
Linas.
The request came from Ray
Reece, manager of the South
ern Bell Telephone Company
here.
Mr. Reece disclosed that
there have been instances of
damage to telephone equip
ment in this vicinity recently.
Even the smallest shots can
cut a wire, shatter an insulator
or otherwise disrupt service,
which may affect your tele
phone he said.
the fundamentals of our faith j
take on special significance, i
The cold war is really one of i
conflicting ideologies, for com- 1
munism holds to a philosophy
directly opposed to Christiani- i
ty. If it is true that the only
real antidote for communism I
is Christianity, people need to '
know just what Christianity 1
stands for.
There are, however, even I
stronger reasons for undertak- .
ing a thirteen week study of j
Christian doctrines. We face a j
great deal of spiritual ignor- |
ance and indifference to the ,
doctrines of our faith, even on ।
the part of persons wishing to 1
be known as Christians.
People will never really un- i
dertake the Christian way of'
life if they do not know what I
is involved in it. Nor will those I
who now profess the name of '
Christ even count for God as j
they ought unless they get a
firm grasp of the unshakable I
Christian realities. The AIM I
of the Uniform lesson commit
tee for this quarter’s study is
to show that Christian beliefs |
do really matter if ours is to I
be a witnessing faith. Christ
ianity. if it is anything, is and J
must be a missionary faith. Its |
truth is of such a nature that i
it must be shared. Any other
so - called “Christian” faith '
lacks the vitality it needs to j
make it a power. If we do not ,
have a faith we can share, it is
not likely to be worth much,
either to us or tn others.
The beliefs we are to con
sider are the very warp and
woof of Christianity. They in
clude the doctrines of God,
Christ, the Holy Spirit, the
Bible, man, redemption, the
church, eternal life, love, reve
lation and discipleship. It
would be hard, if not impossi
ble, to find a more important
list of subjects for study. These
are the concerns that matter
most. These are the issues on
which destiny hangs. These
lessons are practical at the
same time that they are doc
trinal, for doctrine deals with
reality, and reality touches life.
The great themes we shall study :
are related to the everyday ■
problems of the individual, the i
family, the church, the com- !
munity, the nation and the 1
world.
So, it is my duty and your ,
duty to seek out the church of ,
our choice and not miss one of |
the lessons. They are there for :
each of us FREE . . . and our j
destiny depends upon our be- j
liefs our daily living. YOU |
and I have within the palm '
of our hand the directions to '
travel life's pathway. The map I
i with all directions will be j
, found in a classroom at your ।
church. If you have never been ■

i will take . . . there is a right j
' road and a wrong road. It may i
j be possible that you have just
j wandered around and are “sot- j
| ter” lost, in that you have not j
j gone too far down the wrong j
I road and it’s only a step over ,
: to the right road. Don’t delay ;
i . . . start to Sunday School j
Sunday and learn the lessons j
of this quarter which may en
rich your life and that of all I
about you. Go ... I am ... I
