home of Mrs. Claire Bennet.
on Monday evening, October 1,
with Mrs. Bennett presiding.
Mrs. Nina Day opened the
meeting with prayer. Mrs.
Boyce Loyd and Mrs. Alvin
Jeffares were welcomed as vis
itors.
The watchwords were re-|
peated in unison. Mrs. Bennett
discussed briefly the goals for
the new year. ’
The acting secretary, Mrs.
Grady Bowden, read the min
utes. Mrs. James H. Brooks
gave the treasurer’s report.
Legion Auxiliary Had October
Meeting Monday at Legion Home
The American Legion Auxi
liary Unit No. 32 met Monday
evening October Bth at the
American Legion Home with
14 members present.
Mrs. Dan Clower, President,
opened the meeting in regular
form, followed by praver by
Unit Chaplin, Mrs. Rembert
Kitchens. The wunit joined in
singing “The Star Spanglea
Banner” and the Hymn of the
month, “Savior More Than
Life”, led by Mrs. Jack Chap

Two local students were among
558 pledging at Emory University
at the end of the annual fall Rush
Week. Emory’s ten national soror
ities accented 209 pled~es and 349
men “walked the Row” to pledge
the 13 Greek-letter fraternities.
The list of fraternities was in
creased this fall by the addition of
Phi Gamma Delta (Fiji).
Pledged to Kappa Alpha Theta
is Miss Stephanie Ginn. Everett
H. Prz*t, Jr. is pledged to Phi
Delta Theta.
