Georgians Used
146-Million Gals.
Liquefied Gas
Washington, D, C.—Georgia
consumers used 146 million
gallons of liquefied petroleum
gas in 1961, according to fig
’ ures released by the Bureau of
Mines.
Os the state total, 144 million
gallons of LP-gas were used
by domestic and commercial
customers. Most LP-gas in this
category is used by residential
consumers for cooking, water
heating, home heating and oth
| er household purposes. |
{ Industrial use of LP-gas in |
| Georgia last year was 5.4 mil
{ lion gallons, while 13.8 million
| gallons were used to power
;fork lift trucks, motor trucks,
and other vehicles. Motor fuel
use of LP-gas increased 15.5
per cent during the year.
In Georgia, LP-gas is also
used extensively for tractor
¥power, chick brooding, irriga
| tion pumping, and flame cul
tivation and weed control.
i National sales of LP-gas
ireached a record 9.7 billion
| gallons in 1961, a 3 per centl
| increase over 1980. In com
menting on the 1961 record, A.’
B. Ritzenthaler, president of
the National LP-Gas Council,
said the gain can be attributed
to stepped-up marketing ef
forts by the entire industry,
and the introduction of new
products.
| Ritzenthaler predicted a new
sales record for 1962 because
| demand during the first half
of this year was about'lo per
cent ahead of the same period
