present as new neighbors, Mr.
and Mrs, J. Frank Walker, who
have moved from Atlanta to
make their home at 714 How
ard St.
Mrs. Walker, a native of Ala
bama, names sewing as her
favorite hobby; but also enjoys
bowling and music, and has
enjoyved choir work.
Mr. Walker, originally of
Sandersville, is a member of
the faculty of Porterdale
School, where he is also li
brarian. He shares his wife’s
love of music, and in addition
names spectator sports and
reading as hobbies.

of her church choir. |
Mr. Patrick, an Atlanta na
tive, is with American T. and
T. Co. He shares his wife’s en
thusiasm for water and out
door sports, and also likes to
hunt.

ver, originally from New
Smyrna Beach, Fla., and Gary,
Ind., have recently moved from
College Park, and have an
apartment in Brokwood Apart
ments.
Mrs. Sawyer names bowling,
musie, reading and football as
favorite hobbies.
Mr. Sawyer, who is assistant
manager of Grants new store
at Covington Meadows Center,
also likes bowling and football;
and in addition enjoys music,
and has worked with his
church choir.
They have a little son, Chuck

additions to the Church of
Christ, of which they are mem
bers.

were ladies of today, and Susie
Knight was the Junior G.A.

Blankinship, and the W.M.S.
President was Mrs. Ruby Sat
terfield.
During the social hour, a
fruit salad and cookies were
served. Seventeen members
were present for the meeting.

third Saturday night in No

Alexanders Are Hosts at Rehearsal
Dinner Feting Brother and Fiancee
The home of the Loyd Alexan
ders was the scene on Saturday
evening of a festive occasion,
when the Alexanders were the
genial hosts at a rehearsal din
ner, in compliment to their bro
ther Lowell Alexander, his fian
cee, Miss Barbara Kotel, and
members of their wedding party.
Pink and white were keynoted
in decorative features which
enhanced the attractive setting.
Focal point of the living room was
a topiary tree of pink roses on a
small circular table overlaid with
floor length pink cover, posed be
neath the mantel, where t win
arrangements of magnolia foliage
were reflected in the overhanging
mirror. End tables held smaller
arrangements of pink sasanqua
camellias.
The bridal party table, over
laid with white linen, held a sil
ver bowl of Lilliputian white chry
santhemums and gladiolus inter
spersed with fern tips, and flank
ed by three branched silver can
delabra of glowing white tapers.
Place cards further accentuated
the nuptial theme with bridal mo
tifs
Additional tables, also overlaid
with white, were centered with

I and II Meeting (Atlanta and
Columbus) of the Alpha Delta
Kappa from the Eta Chapter in
Covington on Saturday, Oct
-20, were: Mrs. Spence Ramsey,
Mrs. C. D. Ramsey of Coving
ton, Mrs. Jim Baker of Oxford,
Miss Pauline Hardman of
Porterdale.
Meeting at the Club House in
Ida Cason Callaway Gardens at
eleven-thirty, this party joined
about two hundred guests who
were celebrating Founders Day
with a delightful and delicious
luncheon. The dining hall was
attractively decorated with
dahlias and a cornucopia of
yellow chrvsanthemums. |
Mrs. Sara Spano of Colum
bus, Georgia gave a most inter
esting and entertaining after
dinner speech. She presented
eacn an imaginary necklace
containing five jewels, (1) em
erald-tolerance; (2) topaz-loy
alty; (3) amethyst-courtesy;
(4) star-saphite-ambition and
courage; (5) diamond-sense of
humor.
Everyone was guest for a
tour of the gardens including a
visit to the chapel where organ
musie was being played. The
inspiration received here was

crystal compotes of pink sasan
quas with an emerging white
taper; and magnolia foliage bank
ed the mantel. In the den, pink
sasanquas were used to advan
tage with clipped pine in artistic
arrangements, and twin arrange
ments of ivy lent floral interest
on the mantel. ’
For the occasion, Miss Kotel |
chose a sheer wool costume suit
in Sandlewood, complimented by
a white carnation corsage, pre
sented by her hosts. Mr. Bill
Dobbs, who greeted guests, wore |
a black silk model with sprays of '
crimson roses on the hemline bor
der; and the hostess wore a silk
shantung sheath in sand, with]
scooped neckline. |
In addition to the wedding pair,
covers were laid for the follow

Tax Re-Evaluation
Program at Rotary
Covington Rotarians conducted
their own program on Tax Re-
Evaluation in Newton County at
their Tuesday meeting at t h e
Teen Can. Donald Ballard was in
charge of the program and acted
as moderator of a impromptu pan
el.
Three Rotarians were asked to
speak for the new tax program and
three were asked to speak against
the proposal. Questions were ask
ed and the program was enlight
ening to all the members present.
One new member was inducted
into the club Tuesday. He was
John Morford, Personnel Man
ager of the local Brunswick Sports
plant. Howard Brooks handled the
induction ceremony.
