the sick list this past week. We
hope she and all those who are
sick will feel better soon.

for her an early recovery.

TROOP 774
PORTERDALE —Fifteen
Brownies of Troop No. 774
with their leaders, Mrs. Fred
Scarborough and Miss Mae
Hardman, were joined by par
ents who provided transporta
tion for a tour of the Newton
County Hospital on Wednesday
afternoon, February 13. At
four o'clock, they were greet
ed by Mrs. Helen Dickinson,
Hospi ta I Administrator, to
whom they presented Valen
tine remembrances for every
patient in the hospital. Mrs.
Dickinson then conducted a
tour throughout the hospital
and answered the many ques
tions of the inquisitive seven,
eight, and nine year olds. From
the hospital, the group went to
the Covington Meadows Phar
macy for refreshments.
Those who assisted with the
transportation were Mrs. M. B.
Shaw, Mrs. John Lance, Rev.
I. G. Rudolph, and M. S. Polk.
The refreshments were provid
ed by the Troop Committee,
Mrs. Shaw, Mrs. Lance, and
Mrs. B. C. Crowell.
Girls who shared in the trip
were: Wilda Capps, Sheila
Crowe, Nancy Crowell, Susan
Crowell, Colleen Davis, Nan
Herring, Marcia Johnson, Bren
da King, Becky Lance, Gail
Moon, Elaine Moore, Jane

Mrs. Flora Fincher who passed
away at the home of her daugh
ter, Mrs. W. W. Yancey, on
Friday evening, February 15,
following a brief illness.
Friends of Mrs. Elba Smith
are gratified that she return
ed from the Newton County
Hospital on Tuesday, February
12, following an illness of nine
weeks and is recovering satis
factorily at her home in Por
terdale.
Mrs. Carter Robertson was
welcomed back to her class
room, Monday, at the Porter
dle School after suffering a
fractured wrist in a fall at the
school on Tuesday, February
12.
Mr. and Mrs, Willard Reid
and family were visitors in
Porterdale of Mr. and Mrs. T.
C. Parker and Mrs. Louise Hin
ton and other relatives on Sun
day, February 17.
The Rev. I. G. Rudolph is
attending the Ministers Retreat
Ruby Sullivan, Lola Yancey, Mol
lie Hall and Ruby Satterfield and
Mrs. Lizzie Steadham. Mrs.
Knight dismissed with prayer.
During the social hour, Mrs.
Stokes served cookies, sandwiches
and punch. Ten were present and
two visitors.
