Said work shall begin with
in ten (10) days after formal
execution of contract and shall
be completed within 340 work
ing days. When contract has
been executed, written notice
shall be given the Contractor,
at which time, and not before,
work may be started.
Contract executed pursuant
to this Notice is binding on the
State Highway Department, as
such. Said contract will not
create liability, expressed or
implied, against the undersign
ed Chairman of the State High
way Board, as an individual
nor against any employee of
the State Highway Department,
in his or her individual capaci

The minimum wage to be
paid under this contract shall
be the amounts set out in the
Labor Provisions included in
the Proposal. The attention of
bidders is directed to the Spe
cial Provisions covering em
ployment of labor, methods of
construction, subletting or as
signing the contract and to the
use of domestic materials.
Plans and specifications are
on file at the office of the un
dersigned at Atlanta, and at
Tennille, Georgia, and at the
office of the Board of County
Commissioners of Newton &
Walton Counties at Covington
& Monroe, Georgia, where they
may be inspected free of
charge. Copies of the plans
may be obtained upon payment
n advance of the sum of
>12.00. Copies of the General
Specifications may be obtained
upon payment in advance of
the sum of $3.00, which sums
will not be refunded.
Proposals must be submitted
on regular forms, which will
be supplied by the undersigned,
and may be obtained by a pay
ment, in advance of $5.00 for
each proposal issued. When the
proposal is submitted, it must
be accompanied by a certified
check, cashier’s check, nego
tiable United States Bonds, or
other acceptable security in the
amount of $20,000.00, and
must be plainly marked “Pro
posal for Road Construction,”
County and Number, and show
the time of opening as adver
tised. Cheek of the low bidder
will be cashed and all other
checks will be returned as
soon as the contract is award
ed, unless it is deemed advisa
ble by the State Highway De
partment to hold one or more
checks. If an unusual condi
tion arises, the State Highway
Department reserves the right
to cash all checks. Bidders
Bond will not be accepted.
Bond will be required of the
successful bidder as required
by law.
Contracts will not be award
ed to contractors who have not
been placed on the list of
qualified Contractors prior to
the date of award. No proposal
will be issued to any bidder
later than 9 A.M. Eastern
Standard Time of the date of
opening bids.
All bids must show totals
for each item and total amount
of bid. Right is reserved in the
undersigned to delay the award
of the contract for a period not
to exceed thirty (30) days
from the date of opening bids,
during which period t)ids shall
remain open and not subject
to withdrawal. Right is also re
served in the undersigned to
reject any and all bids and to
waive all formalities.
Upon compliance with the
requirements of the Standard
Specifications, Ninety (90)
percent of the amount of work
done in any calendar month
will be paid for by the 25th.

that application has been filed
under the Federal Power Act
(16 U.S.C. 791a-8252) by Geor
gia Power Company, of Atlan
ta, Georgia (correspondence

4545, Atlanta 2, Georgia) for
license for constructed Project
No. 2336, located on the Oc
mulgee River some 43 miles
above the City of Macon, in
Butts, Jasper and Newton
Counties, Georgia.
The project, known as the
Lloyd Shoals Project, consists
of: a concrete gravity dam and
spillway 728.5 feet long, com
prising a non-overflow section,
an intake section and an earth
embankment section; a reser
voir with a surface area of
4,850 acres at an elevation of
530 feet m. 5.1.; a powerhouse
containing six turbines, each
rated at 5,500 horsepower con
nected to six generators, each
rated at 2,400 kilowatts; and
other appurtenant facilities.
Protests ore petitions to in
tervene may be filed with the
Federal Power Commission,
Washington 25, D.C., in accord
ance with the Rules of Practice
and Procedure of the Commis
sion (18 C.F.R. 1.8 or 1.10).
The last day upon which pro
tests or petitions may be filed
is April 15, 1963. The applica
tion is on file with the Com
mission for public inspection.

That the above stated case,
being a condemnation in rem
against the property hereinaf
ter described, was filed in said
court on the 25th day of Feb.,
1963;
That, in accordance with the
provisions of Section 3 of the
aforesaid Act of the General
Assembly, a Declaration of
Taking, duly authorized and
properly executed as provided
by said statute, as amended,
has been made and filed in said
case, declaring the necessity
for and exercising the power
of taking the said described
lands for state-aid public road
purposes, thereby vesting the
title to same in the State High
way Department of Georgia;
and, in pursuance of such au
thority, the State Highway De
partment has deposited with
the Clerk of the Superior
Court of said County $7,640.00
as the just compensation for
the said lands described; and
all persons claiming such fund
or any interest therein, are
hereby requ ire d to make
known their claims to the
