News Notes From
Salem

Hi! How many of you readers
sent with news last week — but, I
I really didn't mean to be ab
sent with newslast week-but, I
made a few days visit to my
daughters home. In fact, the
Taylor family was down Sunday,
March 17 to spend the day with
us and I returned home with
them for a few days visit. I
hope I won't be absent any more.
One can be away from home for
a few days and so many things
will happen that one hardly knows
where to pick up and start a
news column. First, I would
like to express sincere sympathy
to the bereaved families of the
late Mr. Hugh King. Mrs. Jesse ।
Bates, both of Covington: Mrs.
Elba Smith of Porterdale and
Mrs. Effie Langley of our own
community, and I quote a little
poem as a memoriam to them. It
goes like this-“ The working tools
have fallen from their grasp. The
journey has ended for their
weary feet; Death holds their tired
hands in gentle clasp. Their work
is done; Their journey is com
plete.” Each ones passing was

ami. Florida has returned home
for a few days, but is now in

L. English and family.

Johnny Statham of Decatur has
a host of friends in this terri- j
tory, who will be sorry to learn
that he is now a surgical patient
at Walter Reed Hospital. Wash-
I ington. D. C. Johnny was loosing
his eyesight and it was dis
covered he had brain tumor with
the removal of the tumor, he is
regaining his eyesight to the de
light of all his friends, and w e
send our sincere good wishes for
his complete recovery.
