Miniature Garden Club Met Wednesday
At the Home of Mrs. Lanier Hardman
The May meeting of the
Miniature Garden Club was
held Wednesday at the home of
Mrs. Lanier Hardman. The
meeting was devoted entirely
to business and the introduc
tion of the new officers and
committees for next year.
Mrs. Henry Odum Jr., presi
dent of the club for the past
year gave a delightful and in
formative speech on the acti
vities of the club during the
year and ended her speech with
« little poem introducing the
new officers. They are: Mrs.
Hugh Harris, president; Mrs.
Herbert Vining, Vice President;
Mrs. Phillip Cohen, recording
secretary; Mrs. E. E. Callaway,
assistant secretary; Mrs. Lan
ier Hardman, treasurer; Mrs.
Thomas Culbertson, corres
ponding secretary; Mrs. Thomas
Crews, scrapbook; Mrs. Charles

At the conclusion of the busi
ness session Mrs. Susie V. Budd

| of Mother’s Day. The program,
given by Mrs. Dodson, was an
account of her trip to Europe
during the summer of 1962.

i tails of places and people, all
' spiced with her fine sense of
i humor. Visual aids included
I pictures, pamphlets and other
| memorabilia from England,
' Holland. Belgium, Germany,
Switzerland, Italy, Paris and
I the "good ship" The Queen
Elizabeth.

The bride - elect graduated
from Rockdale County High
School. She also attended
Massey College in Atlanta,
where she took the Executive
Secretarial Course. Miss Tol
bert is now employed by the
State Department of Education
, in Atlanta.
The groom-elect graduated
from Oconee County High
School. He is a Junior at the
University of Georgia where
he is majoring in Agricultural
Economics. Mr. Lee is em
ployed by the Southern Pied
mont Agricultural Experiment
Station in Watkinsville.
The wedding will be June
2. at 4:00 P. M.. at the Antioch
Christian Church in Watkins
■ ville.

p.m. for the miscellaneous
shower given by Mis. Drinkard
and Mrs. Roy Moore of Salem,
i honoring Miss Brenda Bailey,

for the occasion and was lovely
in an array of spring flowers.
The reception hall where the
guests were greeted by the
I hostesses and the library
' where the gifts received by
Miss Bailey were displayed
had a color scheme of green
and yellow. Yellow daisies and
yellow Japanese iris being used
to advantage. The living room
had spring flower arrange-
I ments consisting of roses, iris
1 and English dogw oo d. The
dining room table was center
ed with a crystal bowl filled
with a massive arrangement of
vari-colored roses. Silver trays
of dainty sandwiches, cheese
straws and compotes of yellow
and green mints completed the ,
table arrangement.
Dessert-Bridge Hardman Home Among
Events of Social Interest, Tuesday
Mrs. Lanier Hardman was a
gracious hostess to members of
her club and guests, at a de
lightful dessert-bridge, at her
home, on Tuesday afternoon.
Fragrant magnolia blossoms
and foliage in a Cantonese
bowl was the foyer’s focal ar
rangement. Eucalyptus foliage
was combined with yellow
butterfly chrysanthemums in
an antique French container, to
form the living room's mantel
arrangement.
In the dining room, where
guests were invited for a tasty,
iced sweet course, the table

embedded in a mound of Eng- j
lish dogwood blossom clusters.
A pink wedding ring of ice in <

the table. Miss McCloud wore <
a charming model of blue cot
ton, finished in lace ruffles at i t
the throat and sleeves.
The bride-elect was lovely i
in a white linen suit with
which she wore black acces
sories. A white carnation cor
sage. presented her by the hos
tesses completed her costume. I
The highlight of the even-1
ing was when five year old ,
Lee Drinkard. daughter of Dr. f
and Mrs. Drinkard. entered the
living room dressed in a white
satin bridal dress (made by
her grandmother) carrying a
bride's bouquet and posed for
pictures.
About thirty close friends of
the bride and her mother, Mrs.
Doyle Bailey enjoyed this
lovely occasion.

centerpiece consisted of fruited,
burgundy plum foliage, which
charmingly picked up the
porcelain compote’s floral mot
if. Tiered china compotes of
dainty cookies complemented

In the ensuing games, Mrs.
John Bell was guest high
scorer; Mrs. Ed Robinson too
scorer for the club: and Mrs.
Sam Gainer also a club guest,
drew bingo.

Little Red School House Kindergarten
Graduation Program Tonight at 7:30
The Little Red School House
Kindergarten graduation program
will be held tonight (May 23) at
the E. 1. Ficquett School fro m
7:30 until 8:30 p. in The theme of
the program for this year is the
"Wedding of Jack and Jill". The
Kindergarten, sponsored by the
Covington Service Guild, has Mrs.
Robert Rudd and Mrs Claude Jor
dan as teachers for the children.
To lie presented on the program
will be a welcome by Mrs. Edgar
Callaway, president of the Guild,
followed by the processional and
