"Happy Homemakers Club" Elects
Officers for the Coming Year
Th* morning unit of the
Home Demonstration Club held
h; monthly meeting at the
city courtroom.
The meeting was called to
order by the temporary chair
n .n, Mis. B J. Matocha. A
short devotional followed and
ti e goup sang the club song.
The important highlight of the
club was selecting a name--It
was unanimously decided that
it will now be known as "The
Happy Homemakers Club."
The list of the officers for the
year were named, voted, and
accepted.
They are as follows: Presi
dent, Mrs. B. J. Matocha; Ist
Vice President, Mrs. Byron
Williams; 2nd Vice Preident,
Mrs. W. D. Ballard; 3rd Vice
President, Mrs. Paul Adams,

ure at a lovely shower-tea at
the Porterdale Baptist Church
on Saturday afternoon, May 25.

were greeted by Mrs. Ray
Potts and Mrs. Lanier Malcom,

bride-elect and were displayed
on long tables overlaid with
white and adorned by a petite
bride and wedding bells.
A color theme of pink, green,
and white was executed in the
decorations and refreshments.

punch bowl base garlanded
; with ivy and pink rosebuds
which was balanced by a cry
stal footed bowl of pink radi
ance roses. Dainty cakes em- '
bossed with tinted icing in the
knots carried out the featured
। colors of the luncheon.

unications Workshop.
Mrs. Groves will return to
Covington on Monday, June 3.
at which time she will be back
at her desk in the Extension
Office. There will be a special
workshop day for all girls
participating in District Pro
ject Achievement Meeting. This
will be held on Tuesday, June
4th at 9:30 a. m., at the Snap
ping Shoals EMC Building
auditorium. At this workshop,

4-H members, adult leaders
and facilities available to help
these District participants to
wards the final goal of perfect

Sullivans Observe
Golden Wedding
Mr. and Mrs. C. W. Sullivan
of Rabun Gap. formerly of
Newton County, celebrated
their fiftieth wedding anniver
sary, Wednesday. April 17, with
a reception at 8:00 p. m. in the
Addie Corn Ritchie Dining Hail
at Rabun Gap - Nacoochee
School. Mr. and Mrs. Sullivan
were married April 17, 1913,
in Atlanta, Georgia with the
late Rev. T. P. Cleveland, D. D.
officiating.
Mr. and Mrs. Sullivan are the
i parents of two daughters, Lou
| ise and Doris. Louise, the older,
iis married to the Reverend
I Thomas A. Fry, Jr., D. D.,
pastor of the First Presbyterian
I Church, Dallas, Texas. Doris is
married to The Rev. James R.
S. Tippens, director of camp
and conference programs for
the Orange Presbytery, Chapel
Hill, N. C. There are five gr
andchildren — three boys and
two girls.
Mrs. Sullivan was attired in
rose lace accented by a gold or
chid corsage.
The Dining Hall was deco
rated with three floral arrange
ments of yellow roses and chry
santhemums —gifts of friends
—and arrangements of white
gladioli, narcissi, and bridal
wreath, the latter having been
| used as decoration for the home
, wedding in 1913,
The three-tier wedding cake
decorated with white and yel
' low roses and crowned with the
number 50 was made by Mrs.
Mary Brown, the Rabun Gap -
Nacoochee School dietician and
Mrs. Lillian Wise, home econo
mics teacher.
Mrs. Wise, assisted by Miss
Genie Morris, music teacher, at
Rabun Gap served the cake.
Mrs. Fred Kelly, secretary to
the President of Rabun Gap
School and Miss Winnie Rates,
bookkeeper served yellow
punch.
Presiding over the guest book
was Miss Carol Callaway, sen
ior at Rabun Gap.

Has Demonstration

Mrs. C H. Berry Jr., presi
dent of Almon Home Demon
stration Club, called the meet
ing to order on May 14th. when
the club met for their regular
meeting at the club house.
Nine members and one visi
tor, Mrs. Wadsworth of Orlan
do, Fla. enjoyed the demon
stration by Mrs. Sara Groves,
extension agent, on limbering
and firming up exercises.
These were especially for the
senior citizens and busy home
makers. Mrs. Groves stressed
the fact that stretching, twist
ing and other forms of exercise
are needed to improve the fig
ure along with dieting.
Mrs. Groves urged the mem
bers to take part in the dress
revue June 7th at the Ameri
can Legion Hall.
Cookies, nuts and punch
were enjoyed during the so
cial time.

Lithonia Luncheon

Miss Sadye Downs was hon

with a luncheon at the home of
Dr. and Mrs. C. J. Tucker in
’ Lithonia, with invited guests
former housemates on the
teaching staff in Lithonia when
the group lived at the home of
Mrs. Tucker.

home with the luncheon table
