day night, July 27, at the home
of Dr. and Mrs. Nat Long Sr.,
in Atlanta, with Mr. and Mrs.
Nat Long Jr., as hosts.

Calvary Baptist
WMS Hears Talk

The general meeting of the
Calvary Baptist Womans Mis
sionary Society was held July
23, in the church annex. Mrs.
Bill Pratt, president, called the
meeting to order and welcomed
the members.
Missionaries on the prayer
I calendar were read by Mrs.
Neal Sammons, who then led
! in prayer. The minutes of the
last meeting were read and
approved. Reports were given
by various chairmen and com
mittees. Fourteen members and
three visitors were present.
Mr. William (Billy) Mitch
ell, secretary of Jewish work
for the home mission board,
brought a most enjoyable and
thought-provoking message on
his work. The meeting was dis
missed with prayer.
Porter Memorial
WSCS Meeting Was
Held at Church
PORTERDALE — The
W.S.C.S. of the Julia A. Porter
Memorial Methodist Church
met on July 22 at seven-thirty
o’clock in the church with Mrs.
W. W. Cawthon, President,
presiding over the meeting.
Rev. A. J. Bruyere opened the
meeting with prayer.
Minutes were read and ap
proved. Mrs. Cawthon gave the
report of the treasurer in the
absence of Mrs. Grace Moore.
Mrs. Cawthon asked that all
shut-in friends be remember
ed with cards and prayers.
Mrs. W. C. Ivey asked for
special prayer and attention
regarding the Youth Revival to
be held in September.
The Rev. Bruyere asked that
a Nursery be started with
members of the W.S.C.S. tak
ing turns alternately with car
ing for the children.
The count of the circles was
as follows: Annie Lummus 8;
Marilu Pittman —9; Ethel Bel
cher —6.
Mrs. Richard Bellairs, pro
gram chairman, brought an in
spiring message.
Mrs. B. B. Snow closed the
formal meeting with prayer.
The Ethel Belcher Circle
served delicious refreshments.
Porter Memorial
Choir Has Busy
Schedule to Meet
The Men’s Chorus of the
Julia A. Porter Memorial Meth
odist Church have been quite
active and still have quite a
few engagements to fulfill.
Sunday afternoon, July 28,
they were guest singers at the
Sharon Baptist Church Home
coming giving an hours mu
sical program to members and
friends.
Tuesday night. July 30, they
presented several musical
numbers at the Lovejoy Meth
odist Church Revival service.
Coming engagements are to
sing at Sardis Metho d i s t
Church Homecoming services •
this Sunday, August 4 and to
sing at the Revival services at
the Red Oak Methodist Church
this coming week.
The chorus is under the di
rection of Mr. Neal Wheeler I
with Mrs. Milford Johnson, ac
companist.

lightful Saturday evening, July

disappeared during the evenings I
festivities. It was voted to have |
another such meeting in the
very near future.
