HAD YOUR EYES
TESTED LATELY?
•Pt
Noticed any change in vision re
cently? It’s just good sense to get
your eyes tested every couple of
years whether you presently wear
glasses or not. Driving a car these
days on super highways, in heavy
traffic, around town calls for clear
healthy eyesight, side vision, judg
ment of distance and the ability to
see well at night. Reduce eyestrain,
rest tired eyes, have them examined
regularly. Remember to wear your
glasses if you need them.

Hears of Low-Fat
Cooking, Eating
Low-fat cookery — the won
derful way to cook for the low
fat dieter and still serve tasty
meals — is more exciting than
the homemaker would believe.
Sara Groves, Newton County
Home Demonstration Agent,
helped members of the Mans
field Club explore this interest
ing subject at their regular
monthly meeting on September
9. 1963. She suggested that the
problem of decreasing fat in
the diet can be moved out of
the dining room into the kit
chen. She explained the prin
ciples of mastering the essen
tials of low-fat cookery so that
you can forget the word “diet”
and enjoy eating.
Mrs. Owen Banks, president,
(Best Coverage; News, Pictures and Features)
appointed a Fair committee to
work on the fair booth. Mrs.
W. E. Scarborough will serve
as chairman with Mrs. Jimmy
Hays, Mrs. Wilbur Jones and
Mrs. Starr Jones assisting. The
members were urged to enter
individual fair exhibits ; n the
various classes this year.
Mrs. Dean Getz explained
the Red Cross Bloodmobile
schedule to the club members
and they in turn indicated that
they were 100% in support of
this most worthwhile project.
The date set for the Blood
mobile visit is September 26th.
Mrs. Guy Morgan played the
piano and the club members
sang the Home Demonstration
Club Song in unison. Mrs. Mor
gan's sparkling blue eyes and
silver gray hair, along with her
chipper music, encouraged the
group to sing with enthusiasm.
Fourteen members were pre
sent and Mrs. Roy Davis was
welcomed back after an ab
sence due to an illness in her
family.
Almost 60 per cent of all
dwelling fires start in living
rooms or kitchens, according
to National Fire Protection As
sociation research.
