THE COVINGTON NEWS
Sunday in the home of his
aunt and uncle, Mr. and Mrs.
Aubrey Simms.
We are glad that Mrs. Jesse
Mayo, mother of Mrs. Margaret
Mitchell is feeling better after
her operation.
Clude Simms tells us that
his wife’s mother, Mrs. Lively
is feeling much better.
Do plan to come and take
part in the Fair.
Your family will be more
comfortable during the forth
coming fall and winter months,
if your home has a warm
“lining.”
An ideal “lining” is a layer
of solid boards applied to the
structural framework beneath
surface materials. The presence
of the element under floors, in
the outer walls and under the
roof increases the efficiency
and economy of heating sys
tems.

SCHOOL SPEAKS
Miss Ramsey's
Sixth Grade
The first day of school in
Miss Ramsey's sixth grade was
exciting. The room was very
pretty, too. On the front board,
there is a bulletin board called
"Round-up of School Fun”,
Between the windows are pic
tures of students singing. On
the back wall is a picture of
a beautiful waterfall and a map
of Georgia made of eggshells.
We had perfect attendance
the first day. We had it every
day until Friday when Debbie
Maloy was absent.
We learned many new things
the first week. We had a read
ing achievement test on Tues
day and an arithmetic achieve
ment test on Thursday. We
learned when Nippy Harcrow
(Besi Coverage: News, Pictures and Features]
cut his foot on the playground
that we should always wear
shoes out there. We also learn
ed not to run so fast because
Anne Ingram fell and broke
her arm.
In our books, we are learn
ing many new things such as
what you must do to enter an
other country. Miss Jordye
Tanner, our principal, who
went to Europe and the Holy
Land this summer, came and
told us about passports and
some of the wonderful places
they visited. Her sister, Miss
Ruth Tanner went with her and
they made many pictures. We
will be studying about these
countries.
We listened to our sentences
on the tape recorder on Thurs
day morning. We discussed the
subjects and predicates in our
sentences.
We were happy about elect
ing new officers. Those we
chose were: President, Donny
Moore; Vice-President, Sylvia
Hardegree; Secretary-Treasur-
