Child Health Day
Mon. Proclaimed
By Gov. Sanders
Governor Carl E. Sanders today
proclaimed Monday, October 7,
1963, as Child Health Day in
Georgia. In conjunction with Na
tional Child Health Day, the Gov
ernor called for all interested
agencies and organizations in
Georgia to unite in observances
that will bolster efforts to foster
the health of Georgia’s children.
In his proclamation, the Gov
ernor stated that good health pro
vides a defense against disease
and injury, and allows Georgia s
children the opportunity to grow
and develop to the fullest capa
city.
Child Health Day in Georgia.
1963. will stress the need for good
prevention activities to protect
children and to teach them about
accidents in the home, at school
and at play. The emphasis on
child safety is made because of
statistical evidence that accidents
injure and kill more children in
Georgia each year than do deadly
diseases.
National and state observances
of Child Health Day are held on
the first Monday of October each
year to stress the importance of
the welfare and safety of child
ren of all ages.
